@Sed8op8
I'll get around to building my Hobo this weekend. It'll just be a simple build but, I'll let you know what happens. Glad you got yours up and running though. I was so out of it when I got home yesterday I forgot to stop by the mailbox to get the NarDA pin!

Totally understandable, given that SXSW just ended! Brother, TOTALLY jelly, I KNOW you went! Your Avatar says so. Man, been 15 years since I've enjoyed that musical mayhem, and it was nowhere the size it is now. Hope you had mad fun!

It's been about that long ago since I indulged. Too old for that madness. I now enjoy it peripherally from the "kids" in the office...hehe.

61now. This is the second time I've lived in Austin. First one was between '74-'80. That was a time then! My very first night in town I saw Albert King at the original Antones on 6th.

She's already been told that unless she registers as a supplier and pays the required fees her account will not be re-instated.

I understand your points but Roxy was up front and very clear that she helped design the atty. She always stated "of course I am probably biased cause I designed it" or words to that effect when she gave her thoughts on it.

ETA: she has no real stake in other than maybe pride. She has not and will not receive any sort of compensation.
Compensation or not, when has design "not" been an integral part of manufacturing? She, designed or helped design the item, therefore is part of the mfg process which would make her a supplier, (or supplier associate), and have to bow to the ECF rules here... Right or wrong, they are what they are...

Hey everyone so I put in a some 26gx32g single core Clapton's (fused were too hot) dual 7wraps with 3mm id spaced and switched to kanthal coming in at .55 and with 45 watts the flavor is AMAZING and the vapor production isn't too shabby either best of all it is much cooler 5 consecutive pulls and its just barely getting hot 8) I am much happier with my acquisition now loving the hobo 3.1

Thanks everyone for the ideas and pointing me in the right direction 8)

Sorry its a dual i am used to building in the magma reborn/h-atty /petri v2/tugboat 24/sub zero 24 and i usually build between .18 -.2 i think SS has too low of a resistance hence even with a 12 wrap build its only a .3 (is that too low for hobo...?)

I love SS but I have kanthal and nichrome different guages and Clapton's so I can build just about anything if anyone has recommendations. I was hoping to build duals in here but have no problems with single coils also I am more interested in flavor then clouds. Would a higher resistance yield better flavor And reduce the amount of heat I am experiencing ?
I don't have a 3.1, but it seems all the mentioned atty's you put the same build in, or similar build, were larger atty's and lower Ω builds would be good in them. The 3.1 is a smaller atty and should have a slightly higher Ω build in it to get the same effect or result... Just my :2c:

Didn't want to bring that up again. but yes, good example and devastating to the BF community!!!

Can't help but think if that hadn't happened there would've already been an economical DNA200 BF device on the market that didn't cost $350+...

It does seem like it's antithetical to the logic that a nascent industry like vaping, which IS going to produce innovators and entrepreneurs among us, on a forum like this, would punish members for creativity and talent.

I belong to a wine forum, that simply has a disclaimer that must be in the sig of anyone with ANY connection whatsoever to the business side of the hobby. It seems to work well. It would seem logical to establish some level of business activity that separates a hobbyist who is gleaning a small reward for their work and creativity, from those truly seeking to make a living and thus have more at stake that might color their "opinions" AND require them to establish Supplier Status.

We can't expect perfection from the moderators. It's a hard enough job. Suggestions and openly discussed ideas are the best way to fine tune the machine. You can't help bail the bilge, or assist in manning the rudder, if you abandon the ship.

I want an rda that i can run a single coil in in the center of the deck, it came about by using a single coil this way in the phenotype-L, great vape for a single but the airflow had to be placed so that it was coming in from the sides where the posts are plus both the phen-l's had broke due to threading in the posts failing.
I really like the look of the connectors of the Goon rda but a single coil can only be placed sidesaddle.
The aeronaut is an option but i think i would struggle to keep the rda cool enough as it looks kind of tight in there plus some of the wires i make these days are ending up 4mm wide which by the looks of things wouldnt fit in the connectors.

I have a 30mm Temple which isnt to bad but it could be better, it struggles to accommodate 4mm wide wire in which case i have to squash the wire a little to get it into the post holes plus the airflow is a long way from the center where the coil is so flavour isnt as good as it should be, i suppose a Temple with bottom center airflow would be an option but i really deslike bf airflow, you mostly have to take the topcap off to paint the wick so as to prevent over dripping or dripping down the airholes, putting on and taking off the topcap also pushes juice which has built up as condensation on the inside wall of the topcap down past the o-rings on the outside of the deck which also add's to a juice collection on the outside of the rda..
i have noticed that rda's that have a little lip on the outside of the deck that the topcap sits on seem to prevent juice running underneath but this could just be due to the fact that we are able to see it and wipe it away before it leaks any further, in either case this is the reason why i prefer to have a rda that i can just drip down through the driptip without any worry's.

I do have a couple of 24mm Temple's on the way but only because the 30mm version i have is built like a tank and is the closest to a perfect RDA i can seem to get, but yet is far from perfect, nothing on the market seem to be able to tick all the boxs.

Its very sad seeing all these attys/rdas coming out and not really seeing any real improvements towards what i feel would be a good step.

I would like a 24mm rda with 2post design or goon style connector's either side of the deck which will accommodate upto 4mm width x 2mm depth wire, able to support coil thickness of 7.5mm so if it was a two post it would need to be a 10mm gap between posts, and a more reasonable airflow option on the cap which will allow for good flavour on a single centered coil.
Oh and it must be built like a Tank because i hate rda's that break and in which case i nvr buy again :D
It's not unreasonable because these options on an rda could be used by everyone, not just the guys with wide exotic wires.

I had/have the same problem with mine. My hobo seems to like higher ohm builds, and standard builds, nothing fancy. And I say mine cause others may have different outcomes. But right now I still have dual fused Claptons in mine, around .30 ohms and it gets incredibly hot after a couple hits. I only keep it in there cause I didn't wanna waste the coils but they will be switched out for a better build soon enough. Glad your enjoying yours!

Got the Hobo built. Dual 26ga 3mm .70 ohms. With both air holes 3/4 open it's a little cool. With them 1/2 open it's getting a little more comfortable. But, flavor is there. Not quite as dense as Origen or Marquis. I'll need to experiment more. Maybe a single coil.

Making me realize that I'm fully falling on the bottom feeding side. Need to get more...

While I can't join in on the NoPity for obvious price reasons, I can report that my Narda Subohm competition RDA came in from fasttech. Will clean them up and throw in some builds later tonight once my daughter goes to bed. Both feel like good quality with good tolerances so far.
