Not cottoning to the cotton?

Went where I haven't gone before last night. Put dual Claptons (premade) in the royal hunter. Flavor is good. Ramp up takes awhile. .43ohms. Bit of a tight fit with the negative legs a little hunched up due to shortness. I'd be inclined to get the roll of UD to try some that are a little longer.

Just unwrap a 1/2 coil from each the sides, should help with the shortness and the lower ohms will help with the ramp up. The UD stuff kinda sucks to be honest, it's got machine oil/grease/something on it that's really hard to get rid of so it gives a bad taste anytime your wick starts to run dry plus its kanthal which isn't really the best for claptons and the like because of the slow ramp up. It is real convenient though, I still use it most of the time for initial builds on new rda's before i've figured out what works best. I really wish I could figure out how to get rid of whatever causes that taste though.

I like using my Magma with Ni200 as well. The Velocity works pretty well with Ni200 as well because you have a lot of room to work with so the larger Ni200 coils are easy to fit in. I've used a single Ni200 coil with the Derringer as well and really enjoyed it. Gonna try a single Ni200 coil in the Tugboat V2 tonight and see what the vape is like. I do find that dual coils in TC seem to be finicky. They start off vaping well but after a couple of days the performance is off. Single coil gives me no issues.

I find I have to crank up the temp a bit to get a vape close to what I'm used to with Kanthal. 500Fish for dual coil and 430-450 for single coil.
I noticed that too. I trie dual nickel in my magma but it felt like it's suffocating and I had to turn the temp way up. Granted I don't run duals often. I'm just now learning but hey single runs great and my royal hunger will come in the mail soon. One thing I don't like about nickel is you can't dry burn them. The only way I see that possible is if you run them in power mode to do it. But I heard that's bad for the coil and I'm afraid to do it lol

I'm sorry if this offends anyone but i'm just gonna say it, temp control is garbage.. I mean the whole point is to heat your coils hot enough to get a nice warm vape is it not? Temp control sticks a little computer in your device to try and prevent that so that you don't get a dry hit.. When's the last time you had a dry hit? I mean it's pretty hard once you know what your doing you can pretty much vape cotton dry without any TC on a mech even just by inhaling a little harder to get some more airflow on the coils, I do it all the time when switching flavors.

On top of that you have to use this ni200, titanium whatever wire that's so thin you get less surface area so less vapor and flavor and the crap is so fragile you pretty much have to rebuild your coils anytime you want to rewick and on top of that you have to worry about inhaling nickel and titanium dioxide.. Call me old fashioned but I just don't see the point, why stick a little computer in your mod that just makes things more difficult, tries to fight you for a good vape and is possibly more dangerous to your health due to the wire it requires?

Oh yea, and it kills your battery life like crazy while it's throttling the temperature.. I just don't see the appeal all my temp control mods are pretty much relegated to being ohm meters at this point in time.

I've had great luck with ud Clapton's, I mix it up with some 24 so the staged heating works great for quick ramp up time

Ive yet to even try temp control. Funny thing is I have a mod that does it and I have tanks that have the temp coils if I wanted the easiest way to try it out that would be the easiest way for me I believe. But.....I'm not even interested to be honest. I did get the mod with trying it in mind but now I'm kinda regretting it cause I should of gotten something else.

Same here, I guess that's what set off the rant, I have like $700 in TC mods just sitting here that I don't use at all, it's like the most expensive ohmmeter collection in the world! I always get caught up in the hype though.. Fall for it every time.. dammit lol

I agree with everything you have said, I've tried premade and making my own coils and in the end end always go back to Kanthal/316SS. TC is just garbage and unless it's your first time vaping you shouldn't be getting dry hits regardless or TC or not.

No offense taken, different strokes and all that. I don't like the huge airflow attys some of you do or the huge complicated coils. It's all good.

Yea, I almost got caught up in it again came close to ordering a dna200, new shiny fever lol, I will probably get one eventually anyway who knows but managed to distract myself for the time being with DIY juice compiling a big list of flavors to order and this should take up most of my free time for awhile!

I don't really remember what happened but I have order conformations for two different DNA 200 mods, really need to stop the late night vape gear browsing. On the upside I was able to sell my Velocity for near what I paid for it, to someone locally and didn't get murdered or ripped off. So long as I don't think to much into it I'm ahead.

Yea, sorry for the rant needed to vent I guess lol I like the simple stuff too, that will probably be my next purchase a stealth 18350 mod to use with a derringer, stumpy something like that for when I go out. I prefer the more inconspicuous stuff for that, kinda wanna make the tiniest lil mod/rda combo I can eventually.

Give it a couple months and they'll be under $100.

We all need to rant sometimes. What I really want for a stealthy, out and about setup is a Hellfire Venom squonker. It's 18500 but still looks fairly small.

I agree with that other guy. Different strokes for different folks. I'm not really offended. You can have your opinion. I'll admit I'm a noob. This thread kinda intimidates but luckily y'all seem friendly like most in the forum. Idk I trust rip trippers (I know many here might not like him). He praises tc and says the dna200 is gonna be the next best thing. I like tc so far but the verdict isn't out. I need to do more kanthal vaping and maybe I'll try this Nichrome stuff you guys keep talking about
