sorry for being noob, but mod resistance range? it means that the coil that i build have to be within this range right? how do i know my subox mini range?
Tom is correct. All the specs should be on whatever it came in or a little booklet inside. Like what's the lowest and highest resistance the box can handle or how many watts it has, both of those are something you should wanna find out.

So I'm thinking for my next topper I'm gonna go with a subtank. Just curious and I'm not trying to derail the thread. Do you guys use that too or are you rda purists? I like the convenience of tanks and a lot of the new ones are having flavor and vapor that's comparable to at least mid tier rda's IMO

Edit: I meant to say sub ohm tanks in general. Granted some have their issues but it's the next big thing. I alternate between buying rda's and tanks
I used RDAs exclusively for more than a year, then they took a back seat in favor or the orchids, I was sacrificing just a bit of flavor but like the convenience, but as soon as I started squonking my orchids are gathering dust again, I've always loved drippers and I note have the convenience. But newer tanks do come close and that is great for non squonkers

I'm not super pro tanks or all about them, do I like them, yes, do I think they'll ever completely replace my attys, no....unless one really blows my mind or I get extremely lazy. Tanks serve a purpose in the vaping world and they serve it pretty well considering all you do is fill and insert a coil head in it and you get decent flavor.

@Jojo1991 ,

Most important for your device:
Minimum Resistance: 0.3 ohm

So you will want to make your coil(s) a minimum of 0.3 ohms. The max for your box is probably somewhere around 3.0 ohms, but you won't need to go anywhere near that high.

Here is the handiest tool to have if you want to start making your own coils for your subox
Coil wrapping | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators

Which comes to my next I promise not purprosefully derailing question. What squonker do you use? I hear everyone on here rave about the reo mods. However I want a regulated one possibly and for under 100 bucks. Feel free to pm me if that's easier.

What is leg length, leg lost, heat flux?
And there is a resistence wire length... we need specific wire length? I thought its coil to the screw and cut of the ends?
Don't worry about length you just cut the ends you are right. And the leg loss is how much extra lead is sticking through the other side of the coil. It's just Wasted heating on the extra length so cut it as short as possible. Click on how it works at the bottom of the page to see how heat flux work. I learned to build by looking rip trippers videos. Look up his micro or macro build videos. Sorry for that rant. Just trying to help.

I've always been a mech user since back then 15w was the most you could get on a regulated..
call me shallow but I never liked the reos because its looks
I've never bought a squonker, I've made both of mine

Hey Jojo
I'm still relatively new at building but here's my thoughts.
Start off with 28 ga wire. You can get it from a lot of places but, I get mine from: Temco Kanthal A1 Wire 28 Gauge 100 ft 0 61oz Resistance Resistor AWG A 1 | eBay

So, you select your wire's resistance, set what resistance you want your coil to be. I would start at .08 to 1.0 ohm.

Inner wire diameter is the size of the rod/drill bit that you'll wrap the wire around. Up at the top of Steam Engine there's a Metric or Imperial toggle. If your rod/bit is Metric you can select 3mm or 3.5 mm or 4 mm ID. If you have an Imperial rod/brit you can choose 1/8" or whatever.

There's also the Coil Master which some really like: Coil Master:Make Better Coils

Once those are filled out you'll see how long the strand of wire needs to be (I usually add an inch or so which helps get the coil mounted) and how many wraps it will take to get your target resistance.

All of this takes fiddling, testing, checking, messing up, re-doing and liberal use of profanity. But, it's well worth the pay off.

Also, get an Ohm Meter to test the resistance before you fire it up for the first time.

There are some that are a little cheaper but, I like this one: USA OHM METERS

Good Luck!

I should just man up and admit that mech squonking is the way to go. I've been so used to artistic coils with super low ohms and variable voltage same hit quality that i never wanted to go back to mech. Hell, I even ended up ripping open my Sigelei 150w and making a Lexan box to do this. It was quickly discovered that it is WAY too big and wonky to use daily so it will eventually be torn back apart and respective parts back to their original homes. It was a fun project, but just didn't give me what I was hoping it would.

Anxiously awaiting an extra $100 to come floating into my bank account so I can pull the trigger on a Reo.

I hope you meant .8. .08 is ungodly low. Idk why anyone would wanna vape that low. That would be like 40 amps on a mech I bet lol

I was carefully adjusting the coils and noticed the block was loose. I tightened the center pin and was fiddling with the coils and snap.
Yeah but 16g would take like 200 watts to heat up and like 5 minutes to cool down. At that point why not do a twisted build or a Clapton?

Oh for goodness sake! Yep. .8.
Thanks.
Not that a regulated mod would fire that low. Well I do know the snow wolf will fire pretty low. I think the lowest. Do any of y'all own one? Kinda considering getting one. Oh I want to get everything
