Ok, before I start, thanks to everyone here. You've all been so quick to answer my questions and offer advice. This is an awesome and welcoming community. Now, for the breakdown...

Got my 510 manual kit yesterday around 12:30/12:45pm. Unpacked it, everything was there, including the little promo flashlight from MadVapes. Made sure everything was charged and loaded a pre-filled cart into one of my units. Hated it. The USA mix just tasted nasty. Having been forewarned about the primer, I expected an off taste, but this was just downright nasty. For me, this was not a good flavor at all. Switched to a blank cart that I'd loaded with the Desert Ship juice that I bought with the kit. Now we're talking, much better flavor, off-taste from the primer was there but it didn't alter the flavor enough to bother me, and it has since gone away.

Aside from the flavor, there was a problem for me at first. I knew I was going to have to inhale slowly, as this was a new medium. I knew that I'd have to adjust my draw strength, because I pack my traditional cigs hard, and I do mean HARD. Most of the time, I have at least 1/4in of empty tube at the end of the cigs when I'm done. However, despite all my compensation, I still was not prepared for the throat hit. WOW, just WOW! The first three draws on the 510 had me coughing so bad that my daughter was looking at me like I'd grown another head, and laughing her little 18 year old behind off!

I decided to make a tactical retreat at this point so as not to overdo things and discourage myself, and came back about 45 minutes later after my lungs had recovered a bit. Slowed down my inhale a bit more, reduced the length of my draw to about half a mouthful, and all was well. Little bit harsh, but nothing nearly as bad as those first three.

As I sit here now, and write this post, I'm looking at the remnants of what will likely be my next-to-last only because cigs are $6/pack here in detroit, and with money being scarce, I simply cannot afford to waste the money that has already been spent. So, I sit here and look at the drawer containing the last unopened pack of analogs that I have, and know that it will be my last, and will likely still be unfinished when Monday rolls around. Since opening my 510 kit, I've smoked six analogs in a span of time that would normally have seen me burning through twice that, if not a bit more... depending on how heavy my video gaming is at night. I'm a World of Warcraft player, and my heaviest smoking has always been when I'm in the middle of a dungeon with 10-25 of my online friends, stomping the daylights out of the unsuspecting raid bosses. By the time I go to sleep in a few hours, my analog habit will have been reduced effectively by half in my first day of vaping.

In closing this little narrative, I can say that the TH has become no problem at all, now that my draw habit and lungs have adapted to the new medium, and I am thoroughly enjoying my purchase of the 510 kit from MadVapes. Also, I have yet to change batteries. Given that I have heard much about the short life of these batteries, I must say that I am thoroughly impressed. I expected to be working on my third charge by now.

Hope you all enjoyed the tale of my intro to vaping. See you on the boards!

Edit: For those of you who might have missed my earlier threads, my base analog habit (Pre vaping) is a pack a day, and the nic level of the Desert Ship juice I purchased is 24mg.

Congrats and welcome to the world of vaping. I also just received my first 510 kit, although I have been vaping for over a year now. I wish I had started off with the 510 as you are. It's a rock solid unit. However, battery life is short with these. I can easily kill a charge in under 2 hours, so I'm constantly charging one of my 2 batteries, LOL.

Thanks man. Like I said, it's interesting that folks are burning through these batteries so fast, yet I'm still on the first one. Maybe I just got lucky? Perhaps I haven't fallen into the routine enough to notice the drain on the batteries? I'm sure I'll pick up a few more batteries in the future. Prolly grab a PCC as well, but that'll all be down the road. Right now, my focus is on getting rid of analogs for good. Can't spend savings that haven't been made yet, yanno?

I highly recommend that you do get a PCC. It comes in really handy when you go anywhere for an extended time. I take mine to school with me (a small college) and I put the battery in the PCC whenever I am not using it. Between the PCC and a small bottle for refilling I am good to go for hours. I sit in the back of the class and stealth vape in class too.

Hehe - a little known fact is that I raid an vape too :)
25 heroic ICC and my Buzz full of TV's pina colada - a fun night.
Its true you do have to adjust from smoking to vaping as far as draw goes - I still occasionally suck in a mega mouthful only to cough like a champion because I forget its not a cig (and the coughing reminds me lol)
Really good juice cements this new habit over the old one; I really never thought I'd be smoke free.

Consider a passthrough. Then you won't have to worry about battery life at all while gaming...:2c:

Glad to see you've adapted. It only gets better once you kick the analogs for good. I'm on my 6th day with my Joye eGo and am loving every minute of it, and have already noticed physical improvements in myself -- heightened sense of smell, clearer lungs, I'm hardly coughing at all these days and produce much less phlegm so I'm not clearing my throat all the damn time, my sinuses are clearing up, and my sense of taste is perking up, too. Just this morning in fact, as I was walking to work past a building, I smelled a guy smoking a cigarette before I saw that he had one.

I should probably mention he was a good 100 feet away at the time, and while I was upwind of him, I'd never have been able to do that while I was still smoking analogs. I smelled cigarette smoke but didn't know where it was coming from. Had to watch the guy for a moment until he took a drag before I knew it was him the smell was coming from.

It's pretty wild, really. I don't even remember the last time cigarette smoke smelled like anything but burning (unless it had a noticeably different odor like American cigarettes).

Keep at it! You'll quickly wish you'd discovered this sooner. :)

Yeah, gaming is a lot better while vaping. You don't have the stupid whole cig laying in your ashtray burnt out! You just take a hit whenever you need it. It's great.

LOL..as I sit here on my computer vaping away, hubby walks up the stairs and yells "NO SMOKING IN THE HOUSE!" "i'm vaping baby, NOT smoking...LOL"....I notice I don't waste all the time out in the garage or on the porch...I get more done....LOL:vapor:

Welcome to the new world of vaping :D I have to say the best part of it is when you are raiding or PvPing, no waiting for a break or watching a whole cigarette burn down because your attention got pulled away. Quick hit, put it down, grab it again when you need another fix :) LoL Really one of the best discoveries of my life.

Indeed, it is VERY easy on the wallet when it comes to wasted smokes. I used to go through 5-7 cigs during about a 4 hour period (Our scheduled raid time). Last night, we ran ToC 25, and ICC 10, and I only smoked a single cig, vaped the rest of the time. By the time I went to bed earlier this morning, around 11am, I had only smoked a half a pack of analogs. Today, after waking up at 6pm, I have currently smoked only three.

LOL, Humarock, I keep some strange hours, friend. My sleep habits are all over the place. Gotta love insomnia. I just WISH I could give vaping credit for keeping me up at night. I'd definitely have more stable sleep habits if that were the case.

Just wait for the craving for that "tobacco" flavor subsides.... I'm all about doublemint, pralines & cream, Dr. Pepper now....

You'll eventually look at analogs for what they taste like: A cat turd wrapped in paper... (at least that's my experience).

Look up FlavourArt's "Hypnotic Mist". Mucho yummy.

Oh, and Totally Wicked's "Absinthe".... lol, almost forgot...
