First and foremost, I'd like to say hi and thanks for having these boards. I've been a vaper for about a week now and have learned a lot from these boards already, so thanks to all of you out there who contribute.
Next, sorry for starting a semi duplicate thread on this subject, but being that I'm new, I can't reply to the one I've been reading - url + /forum/tips-tricks/890-building-homemade-atomizer-8.html - and I didn't want to merely post/reply to topics in this forum just to get my post count up as I think that would defy the purpose of the anti spam measures.
Anyhow, moving on...
I've read through the thread above and decided to reverse engineer my Luci's (about how much I hate this product later) atomizer. In doing so, I have been able to figure out how to replace the inner workings of this atomizer in the event it ever pops.
Ok, I'll get some pics later, but the atomizer in the Luci is extremely simplistic. Whether or not this is the best route to take or not, I don't know, but if I find myself with a dead atty before my mega titan arrives then I'll at least have a temporary fix...
Ok, on the the actual design itself:
Completely disassembled, the Luci atomizer is nothing more than a piece of wire wrapped around what appears to be a fiberglass inner wick, which in turn sits inside a ceramic housing. Very, very simple. Is it the best design? Probably not, but I have been able to replicate it already using a piece of wick from my zippo, a copper wire and an AA battery.
Anyhow, on to my question... for those of you far more experienced than myself, how terribly inefficient would it be to replace the inner workings of my atty with a simple strand of wire coiled around a piece of zippo wick? Also, I'm thinking I could get more vapor out of it if I wrap more coils onto the wick as the Luci one has only 5 wraps.
Here are some pics of the dissected Luci atty so you can get a better idea for what I'm talking about.

As stated above, it's a very simplistic design, which may or may not be one of the reasons I hate this product. But, being that this is what I have to work with until my mega titan arrives, any ideas on how to improve the design? Also, what would be the best type of wire to use, copper or??
I'd love to discuss this more so if anyone has any input whatsoever, don't be shy >< and thanks for any insight ^^
