I have finally made it possible to see how many ratings there are on a recipe. If you hover your mouse over the stars, it will tell you the average vote and the number of votes.

The recipe sort by rating was previously pretty useless. I have made a lot of experiments with this and have finally settled on a method that makes sense. The sort by rating should now work in a meaningful way. For those interested I have implemented a sorting based on the Wilson score confidence interval for a Bernoulli parameter ;-)

Flavor ratings are presently unaffected.

Also when you click on a username, it is more clear from the list, that all recipes are by one author :)

Check it out!

And start to rate the recipes you like! :)

Hi, daath.

Some time ago, I stumbled upon the flavors search page and spread the word about it in a couple of forums I post in regularly.

Now I've found that it is being used as a database of recommended mixing percentages, and most people mistakes the "Average mixing quantity" detailed in each flavor page for the recommended mixing percentage.

I think that this average is the average of the flavor percentage used in the recipes you've got in the site and not the average percentage used when mixing the flavor alone.

But wouldn't it be nice if you add the standard or average percentage used for mixing the flavor alone? Looking at the number of flavors you have listed, that would make .................... the first reference page for mixing percentages.

What do you think about it? Is it possible?

Hi Barruel

Thanks for your comment, and kind words!

Yes, perhaps I should clarify, that flavors are usually part of a recipe with other flavors, and therefore the averages might be too weak, if mixed alone at that percentage.

I'm not entirely sure how to implement average perentage for single flavor mixes... I could of course detect if it's a single flavor?...

Hi daath.

You answered faster than I expected. I went to the kitchen to take a glass of water and when I got back to the computer the answer was already here.

As for the single flavour thing, I think that the average mixing percentage we users use and the standard or recommended percentage (set by the manufacturer or by the actual mixing practice) should remain 2 different things. I don't know a word about web page programming nor data managing, but I seem to understand that the approach you've taken to the page is all about managing and searching the data the users have placed in it, so the single flavour detection approach might be the fastest and easiest for you. Maybe you can try with some well known flavours (DRY4, Western Blend, Nutacco, RY69...) as a test to see if the values you get are within the ranges known to work.

But being .................... a site about recipes, I'm a bit skeptical about how that will work. The other approach will be directly entering the standard or manufacturer recommended percentage. I don't know how many users do you have, but we (the users) can enter that info the same way we enter the recipes. Depending on the users, the page can get a pretty nice flavour database in just some weeks. Besides, some flavour manufacturers have that info available at their websites. In such case, maybe the info can be set on the page with something like a copy/paste from these sources.

BTW, I think that the flavour search page is somewhat "hidden" in the page. I can't get to it from the front page. I have to open a flavour and then edit the URL to open http://www...................../flavor. It would be nice to have a link to it in the front page.

Yes, I believe that is one thing that would probably work. A surprising amount of people have single-flavor recipes on the site.

The other approach will be directly entering the standard or manufacturer recommended percentage. I don't know how many users do you have, but we (the users) can enter that info the same way we enter the recipes.

I was thinking it could be a property of the recipe itself, in "My stash", I could put a field for each flavor called "Single flavor percentage" or something along those lines. That would mean that fewer people would write it down though.

Other than that. I agree. Perhaps I should have a link to the flavors page, directly from the front page.

Thanks again for your comments and suggestions! :)

I made a very important change yesterday. When you are creating a recipe, and click "Add flavor", the auto complete search function now gives priority to flavors that are already in your stash, so these are shown first. I have a feeling that this will help immensely in my duplicate flavors struggles.

I am Just getting into making my own juice's & want to settle on 1 place to keep my Info & use if possible. Do you have or plan on making an Android App by Chance?

As for the Google Plus Event you can setup a Group hangout. If you would like I can set it up for you if there's any interest as im always on hangouts.

Hi Snyder :)

Yes, I do plan on creating an app for android (and possibly IOS and Windows [Phone]) - The only problem is time. In the near future I'm going to build another app for a client of mine, and I think I will start my app at the same time.

The site does work beautifully on Android though, I use the site on my phone and my tablet a lot :) So an app is purely because I think it would be cool :)

If you check out the resources page, there should already be a permanent hangout set up. It's been a while since I tested it, and I don't know how much it is used (if at all). I know that some of the DIY_ejuice-crowd from reddit uses hangouts sometimes... It would be kind of cool to have one place to go for live chatting while mixing :)
But I get the feeling that you're talking about something to replace the event-hangout that I created?

Hey guys

I'm currently on holiday in New York (our hotel is in NJ though) - Are there any good vaping places that I should visit? Prefeably in NJ or on Manhattan? I have written three places down: Beyond Vape, Henley and Vape NY.

Any input from you guys would be great :) Non-vaping related places will also do :) Maybe they belong in a PM and not in this thread though? :)

Happy vaping!
