3:23 PM Isha: Hello Travis. Welcome to LG Electronics U.S.A. Support only. How may I provide you with excellent service today?
3:25 PM Travis: I got my replacement window AC at the end of last summer and when I installed it a while back it ran for 2 days and the breaker tripped and somehow that tripped the GFI on the cord for the AC and it wont reset. I push it in and it wont stay in.
3:27 PM Isha: I am sorry to hear about this.
3:27 PM Isha: Let me see what I can do to assist you with this.
3:27 PM Isha: did ]you try a reset of the unit?
3:27 PM Isha: Unplug the unit and when it is unplugged press and hold the start button for 30 seconds then plug back in and try again.
3:27 PM Travis: Okay. Oh never tried that let me try and BRB.
3:28 PM Isha: ok
3:30 PM Travis: Tried it and the gfi still wont reset.
3:32 PM Isha: when did you buy the unit?
3:34 PM Travis: Its a replacement from last year. I spent most the entire summer last year with no AC. Finally after the third call they sent me a new one. It was no longer summer at that point so it sat in the box out in the shed till 3 days ago. It ran for 2 days.
3:35 PM Isha: when did you buy th eoriginal unit?
3:35 PM Travis: 3 or 4 years ago. Its in the system someplace.
3:37 PM Travis: I got it. This Aug will be 4 years.
3:39 PM Isha: I see.. in this case unfortunately is already out of warranty
3:39 PM Isha: I can provide you with the information for a servicer in your area that can check the unit for you May I have your zip code please?
3:41 PM Travis: No its not. They said 5 years.
3:44 PM Isha: 5 yrs is for the compressor and condenser parts
3:44 PM Isha: in this case most likely the problem is the board or circuits
3:45 PM Isha: which only has 1 yr
3:46 PM Travis: BS it was well over a year when they replaced the board on the last one
3:47 PM Isha: I see
3:47 PM Isha: in this case.. can you verify the model number?
3:49 PM Travis: I put it in before starting the chat. You cant see it from that? Wonder why they make me put it in.
3:49 PM Travis: lwloller
3:51 PM Isha: that is not a valid model number
3:51 PM Isha: the model has numbers on it
3:52 PM Isha: how many BTus is your unit?
3:52 PM Travis: 10,000
3:53 PM Travis: The ser# is loltama21571
3:53 PM Isha: that is the serial number
3:53 PM Isha: I think the model LW101ler?
3:54 PM Isha: could that be it?
3:54 PM Travis: I had a hard time looking at the numbers so some that I think are letters could be numbers like "l" ia a one or whatever. Want me to get a better look at it?
3:54 PM Travis: Yes that could be it.
3:55 PM Isha: ok
3:56 PM Isha: do you have the sales receipt?
3:56 PM Travis: Yes its from The Home Depot in Gladstone, MO
3:57 PM Isha: ok
3:57 PM Isha: I will be glad to have a tech out to check the unit
3:58 PM Isha: what is your address?
3:58 PM Travis: Okay. If you want I think the issue is just the cord. I can change it myself if you want to send that and save some money. The GFI stinks like something burnt out in it.
3:59 PM Travis: 79 **********
4:00 PM Isha: one sec
4:03 PM Isha: unfrotunately within your area Im not able to find any service

4:06 PM Isha: 870-
4:06 PM Travis: Oh and it was Sears that came out last time. its in the same town I live in
4:07 PM Travis: Think the actual name is called dkc service or something like that.
4:07 PM Isha: oh ok .. you can contact sears to service the unit

4:09 PM Isha: did you buy the unit from them?
4:09 PM Travis: You did last time. That must be why they are called DKC Service.

LG likely doesn't make anything for that unit, except may be the circuit board. The GFI is a mass produced part. May be it had water inside from something? that's very strange. Did you replace the cord or are you still waiting for a follow up?
It was very smart to have them call, otherwise you would have to deal with DKC or whatever, and they would prefer not to run warranty probably.
Window unit are usually pretty solid too.

Ya. The GFI blew when the breaker blew. I would think the GFI was the fault but I dont have another cord to test it out. I go into town maybe twice a month and have not gone since it quit working.

I thought it was funny how she said no warranty when I have one. Then that I have to contact Sears myself. This lady must have been new. I figured that this post would be a good example for people. It pays to do homework. It seemed like she was trying to get out of it pretty much any way she could.

Ya I hope its not like last year. One of the three times the service man came out to fix it he just left, when he said it was fixed and I didn't have time or even think I needed to check his work. When I went to turn it on the display was all messed up. You cant tell what the set point is, or what mode your in. According to the display it's in all modes at once when you turn it to power saver. That was the time the service guy changed the board out. How could you not notice that? It was a complete nightmare. We went 2/3rds of the summer with no AC at all so just having it work was good. Its still messed up and I gave up calling on that one. If its hot and it stops kicking out cool air, I just turn it down some more.

Appliances these days are engineered so close to spec that you get little reserve capacity. They'll calculate loads down to the decimal point range and add 10%. Chargers we get for ecigs have AC cords that are like headphone cords. Cost is everything, but you'd like to get a 14 or 16 gauge power cord on a small AC device, not a 22 gauge.

We stayed in a 3 story beach condo this year (47 stair steps from the parking lot to the 3rd floor bedroom). Our bedroom was on the 3rd floor and the owner had installed a 5000 BTU window AC to offset the central unit heat rise in the afternoon. We ran it constantly. Periodically, it would make some weird fan noises like bearing failure and then stop. Quality is job 3 these days. Profit and appearance are jobs 1 and 2.
