I've done both spaced and tight. I do wrap them both tensioned on the Wire Gizmo. I use 28 & 29 guage and have coils from 1 to 1.3 ohms. I finally figured out I like the spaced better. Seems to produce better flavor.

I'm not dry burning. I wet burn. I saturate the wick/coil and burn a couple of times. I don't burn it dry, just fire and blow across the coil/wick. Rewet and repeat. That seems to get the wicking kick started. Then I put the top on the rda and it's ready to go with good flavor from the get go. Oh and I have added FB's step of running the smallest pin through the center of the wick after it's threaded through the coil.

I just wrapped a .65 ohm using 26ga and 3mm wick. I did a tight coil and threaded in the wick. Juiced and burned a couple times, then tried it out and it worked like a charm! No bad taste, just nice, heavy clean vapor. I used my Cyclone with AFC. The 26 guage fit nicely. Seems to wick very nicely. I'll tell more tomorrow when I get my LP TRA here. I'll use it full time on there and test it out really well.

I think the key I have found is to torch the wick prior to putting it in the coil. This stiffens the XC and makes it easier to insert in the coil. I think this could also be the reason mine doesn't collapse during the threading into the coil. As I mentioned on the other thread, I have yet to stick anything through it to open it up. After screwing into the coil I can look straight through the wick. It doesn't collapse at all.
