It has taken about 4 weeks for the Myrrh and honestly the longer the better with Myrrh. It takes a bit of time for the creaminess to really come out and the Mrryhs blueberry is the only fruit flavor that seems to be weak at the start. The other of this ilk (fruit with creamy finish) have the fruit taste there almost immediately with the creaminess needing time to come thru. Snake oil (pear version) and Snake bite (apple version) are the quickest at 2 weeks. The Snake venom (peach version) closer to 3 weeks. These are 10ml sized bottles. It seems that the larger the bottle, the longer the steep. I take old empty, smaller bottles and fill them up to shorten the time.

If you like vanilla custards (i have tried soooo many) Big Willies custard is amazing. I really like Seduce's but Big Willie tops it (in my opinion).
Big Willie's Custard

This site offers alot of really good juices. Aside from Seduce juice, Ahlusion Welcome to Ahlusion and Alice in Vapeland E-Juices | Alice in Vapeland have really amazed me. Ahlusions express line is cool because the average steep time is a 1-2 days. Great way to try their juice and not have to wait for it to steep (to get larger sizes you then buy their fresh made versions). Alice in Vapeland is subtle but after a couple weeks, Wow! Unlike any juice I have ever had and like many folks on here, and I have tried Alot!

There are many more good juices out there. I stick with USA made, diacetyl free, and primarily made with natural flavorings. The ones who use alot of artificial flavorings have a strong chemical taste to me.

We are always here and happy to help. When I started this site was invaluable to me.

From my experience (not as much as some on this forum!) when I have a wretched taste or coughing it has to do with my atomizer. Either it is dirty or it wasn't properly cleaned before its first use (I always soak in alcohol, it seems to get rid of the crappy taste of a new head).

Also ohms, voltage also play a big part. You say u are using an evod, so that is basically 3.7 volts. I have an evod and when using a mini protank 2 (a glass version of a evod single coil tank, they use the same head) at 2.2/2.4 ohms I have no issues with Seduces' juice.

If it is a new, never been used head soak it in isopryl (rubbing) alcohol 91% (or everclear (grain alcohol)) for at least half a day. I have tried different lengths of time and it seems 12 hours is the shortest. It does make make a difference. When I don't soak i get a crappy taste and harshness and while some say going thru a tank will get rid of it, I'd rather not waste my juice. I just keep a bunch of heads in rotation.

If it is a used head take it out and soak in alcohol for a few hours. This first soak seems to make the following dry burn go better. Remove and rinse with water, remove the chimney (u can let it dry out a bit) and the loose wicking laying on top of the coil, and dry burn. I pulse it. You can notice the gunk turning grey as you dry burn. Then I throw it back into the alcohol for about 12 hours, rinse, put chimney back on and it tastes like new. The second soaking also gets rid of residue in the wick and remnents of the dry burn that have fallen onto the wick. The coils should look silver again.

While I agree that a burnt-taste can come from a coil that's gunked up with old burnt juice, I'm trying to see a point in soaking brand new coils, and I really can't imagine why anyone would waste time like that; there's nothing in a new coil that would make it taste bad, all that's really necessary is to dab a bit of ejuice at the tiny bits of wick that stick out the sides of the coil, and once it's in the tank, take a few priming pulls -- a couple drags without pressing the button -- to get the juice into the wick. That's all that's needed for a new coil. If you get a bad "burnt" taste from a new coil, it's a dry hit, which means the juice hasn't fully soaked the wick -- hence the dabbing of juice on the wick before insertion, and the priming pulls before attempting a real hit. But there is nothing in a new coil that needs to be washed or soaked away.

For a used coil that tastes burnt, you could soak it for a month and not get the same effect as simply dry-burning it, to burn off the burnt stuff and make it taste good again. Dry-burning takes like 5, maybe 10 minutes, and you'll know when you're done because the wick in the coil is white and shiny again. I know it may seem intimidating to someone brand new to all this, but it's really a piece of cake; below is the video that taught me how to do it.

The guy in the video doesn't cover replacing the burnt flavor wick, he torches it to make it shiny white too, but most of us don't have torches laying around. The best thing is to replace the silica flavor wick with a bit of 100% cotton yarn; the yarn is called Peaches and Cream, available at Walmart for a couple bucks. If you use the whole, 4-ply strand of yarn, you'll probably have the dry-hit problem; I've found that stripping one of the 4 strands out and leaving just 3-ply yarn works the best.

Also, I can't recall if he mentions it, but after you dry-burn a coil, it's a really good idea to give it another rinse, to make sure and get all that burnt taste out of it; the dry-burning itself can leave some of that behind, hence the 2nd rinse.

For me it was not a burnt taste but a weird chemical taste.

Maybe it is just me but they always taste like crap when they are new. I give my heads more than enough time to soak themselves in juice so it is not a dry wick. and I often drip juice right on the wick to make sure it is soaked. It isn't a burnt taste anyways. I have tried just waiting it out and vaping till the taste is gone but it never seems to quite go away. I am not down with going thru a whole tank of juice waiting to get it to taste right. I have found my taste buds are finicky so again it might just be me.

As for when I am cleaning just a dry burn isn't enough. I have tried doing just a dry burn and again they taste like crap. There is residue that sits on the wick from the burn as well as gunk that seems to leach onto the wick. if I soak them in alcohol, the residue dissolves. It is the combination of dry burning and soaking that I feel really removes all the residue.

Don't think I haven't tried other ways. I got to this process because I wasn't happy with the results i was getting. I am not the most patient person so if I am wasting time like this, there must be a reason. Now I am happy with my results. Whether new or just cleaned my first hit always tastes good.

I don't know why you wouldn't soak new heads. You don't know what they have been subjected to during the manufacturing process. When rebuilding you always pre-treat (soaking, torching wire and wick) your wick and coil to remove any residues. Who is to say that the coil and wick were properly pre-treated when it was being put together.

I feel that if you are getting weird chemical flavors or a burnt taste then there is a good chance you are inhaling something you do not want to be inhaling.

ltk31 mentioned experiencing coughing, a sore dry throat, and a crappy taste. For me those symptoms were solved with my ridiculous (I do agree it is ridiculous) cleaning method.

There are different ways that people like to take care of their coils and such. I feel that a big part of this forum is to offer help and find info, especially different points of views and techniques in regards to maintenance of vaping hardware. I will check out the video you posted.

To ltk31, I hope some of what we offered you remedies your coughing and crappy taste. And Suicide Bunnys Mothers Milk is fantastic.

hey guys thanks for the helpful writeups! really made a lot of sense to me i think i burnt the coils when i first started because i didnt do any primer pulls and everything was brand new, i have since changed coils and the burnt taste has went away

i think the coughing had to do with me just switching over from cigarettes, now i have been without cigarettes for a while and i am feeling healthier, breathing easier, and the coughing has completely went away

i ordered 12 mg mothers milk, and a few bottles of different mt baker flavors

the only problem i am having now is trying to get rid of the cinnamon flavor left in my tank!

i vaped a full tank of cinnamon roll from MBV and then filled it up with mothers milk, and after 3 tanks of mother's milk, i cannot get the cinnamon taste to go away. my provari and protank 2 will be here this week sometime, so i am going to just leave this tank that is tainted with cinnamon, strictly using it for cinnamon roll only, since i did enjoy the flavor a lot

One thing that I haven't seen suggested or questioned yet...Do you have good airflow? Is the draw tight? I've noticed that some of the cheaper clearos have a tendency to be tight, causing the flavor to be a bit acrid because it's burning the coil. With me, even a little bit of that will cause sore throat and coughing.

yep i would consider the airflow to be tight, im debating purchasing an aspire nautilus tank once my provari gets here. im going to see how the protank 2's i ordered do first though, hopefully they are good enough
