Do you have the means to check the resistance before firing the coil? What are you going to use the coil on? What is the target resistance you're trying to hit?

It doesn't sound as if you've done any research at all on rebuilding and the safety steps you need to take to ensure your own safety.

I would suggest 6 - 7 wraps..should get you 2 ohm-ish resistance.. but if you use an mvp2 than you could simply set the wattage that you want..that way a little difference in your ohm wont affect your vape much..just your voltage and current (check out ohm's law calculator if you want)..i would suggest using a needle or something small to steady your wick and wrap the wick and needle together..after you finished wrapping than you could just slide the needle away..just make sure the coil doesnt touch the upper post..you might short the atty..but again if you use an mvp, it'll show you if you get a short..cheers!

What they said. With the relatively small area you have to work with in rebuilding a protank coil, you have to be fairly careful and meticulous when doing it for the first couple of times to avoid any shorts. The thicker the wire, the more wraps you're going to have to put on it in order to get a resistance that will fire on a VV/VW mod. You might try to get some 32 ga kanthal if you're going to be firing it on a VW device, at least until you get good enough at it that you can get the coil tight enough to fit more wraps of the 30 ga.

So is it the higher the gauge number the thicker the kanthal? Hoping my skills at making chainmaille will help with wrapping and small area to work with.

No, the higher the gauge # the thinner the wire is but higher the resistance. The lower the gauge the thicker the wire but has lower resistance.

The best way to build a PT is to do micro coils, then pinch and torch to set the coils, that way you'll reduce the chances of the coil shorting against the side.

The higher the gauge, the thinner the wire, the higher the resistance. The lower the gauge the thicker the wire, the lower the resistance as Dice said. Think of wire like a garden hose. The thicker the hose, the easier the water can flow through it because of less resistance. The thinner the hose, the harder it is for the water to flow through it because of more resistance.
