Hey guys. I got a Russian 91 a few months back and had luck with my first coil build. Thing is, I have not put in another coil yet. Is this something that you recommend doing or can you continually use the same coil as long as the production seems fine? Just curious if this is something I should regularly be doing. Thanks all.

I use the same coils for a long time...like a month -or much longer. I try not to get my coils wet with water. Kanthal does a great job resisting oxidation, but as soon as water(by itself) touches it... they practically are immediately rusted..which warrants them a one way flight to the trash.

Once they start getting that brownish and rusted look them, performance will start to degrade.

No two situations will be identical.
I have a few e-liquids that require my coil replacement after several wick changes - about a month.
Others I use have had the same coil, working great, for over 4 months.

Simple enough to check and decide:
Is coil heavily crusted? - Correct wicking, change more often.
Does coil Dry burn to clean easily?
Inspect - Coil look to be in good condition? No heavy pitting/Rust forming(keep moisture from coil) Strange coloration.
Is coil heating properly? Responsive / center out - Adjust if possible
Are Ohms holding near original build? Check/tighten connections.

If everything looks right and everything works right - Continue using the coil
If a problem is evident - Replace the coil.
:)
