I have been thinking about rebuilding coils/heads since I started vaping. I am not sure where to purchase wire and wicking materials. Is this affordable to purchase materials? My girlfriend and myself use kanger bottom coil heads and would like to rebuild our own if it would save money.I would appreciate all the help and info. that anyone could provide....Thank's to everyone here!:)

Like any other part in vaping, your initial expense will be on the higher side (depending which way you wanna go with rbas). Overall, you can catch up to that amount fairly quickly. With 3ft of kanthal I can make about 10+ different coils and a box of sterile cotton costs about $3 (which I haven't even dented yet).

Basically, it can save you money, but like most vapers here, you may find yourself wanting/getting more lol

I also have ordered from Lightning Vapes and am very pleased with them.

I use 32 AWG kanthal, silica/or ecowool (for the coil) and cotton for the flavor wicks. The cotton I use is Peaches and Crème 100% white cotton yarn (Wal-Mart). Boil it first and let it air dry. Use only 2 or 3 of the 4 strands. I use 2. The draw is a little airy but the hit is great. Tons of vapor.

I watched several vids which helped a lot (although you will still have some trial and error when you get started). There's a ton of info on ECF about different wicks and so far I have had the most success with cotton or hemp. This video is a great close up of how to rebuild your evod heads:

Kanger EVOD T3 MT3 Bottom Coil Atomizer Rebuild HD Close Up - YouTube

There are many others on youtube. If you are going to use cotton balls, you only need a little bit and should feel no resistance as you put the wick into the coil otherwise you have too much. I used my husband's digital multimeter and it worked fine for reading ohms. Agree about getting supplies on ebay except for cotton which is readily available.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

You might also want to order some 1mm silica for the flavor wicks. I use 3mm for the coil wick and with the 1mm flavor wicks and mine never leaks. I know some folks REMOVE the flavor wicks and claim better flavor. When I tried it I had some leaking/gurgling problems. And, personally, I don't know how it could taste any better!:D

Started my DIY a month ago and had no intention of rebuilding heads. Yesterday though, I figured out why all my mixes tasted like crap. My Kanger T3s are crap. I have some decent juice If I use the old Vivi Nova clones that came with my Vamo, but through a T3 . . .crap. I'm going to recoil and rewick the T3s with supplies from LightningVapes and hopefully solve the problem. I guess my point is, I've used 4 or 5 clearos or tanks and I like the bottom coil stuff but T3s suck. I do have an MT3 that is fine. . . go figure. Never had anything that leaked. If rebuilding the T3s doesn't solve my problem, then the next step is ProTank. From what I'm seeing now, the ProTank II and the Davide are the two top tank choices. Now when do we get to the place where we can stop spending all our bread on hardware . . . hmmmmm, maybe after the ultrasonic cleaner . .

I just rebuilt my first two. Used 32 gauge kanthal and 3 mm silica. I wrapped the first one 4 times and got 1.7 ohms. I put 5 wraps on the second one and got 2.2 ohms. I'm shooting for 2.0 ohms so on the next one I think I will do 5 wraps just a little tighter. I'm not using any flavor wicks and nothing has leaked.
