OK so for the longest time (LOL a couple of months) after I started vaping, and of course was reading every post on ECF like a madman without a job, I was nervous about rebuilds. So I ordered a bunch of non-rebuildable stuff, tried as hard as I could to get the hell away from clearos (because I hate them) and continued to watch YouTubes of luxurious clouds of vapor with a sad sort of trepidation and obsession.

Finally I slapped myself soundly about the head and shoulders, ordered an rda and some Kanthal, bought a box of CVS sterile cotton and various wicking materials for experimentation, and made peace with the fact that rebuilding was in my destiny.

Several people contributed to this mystical turnaround for me. One was Rip Trippers - his tutorials made everything look so easy and explosion-free.

Another was our own beloved Butters78. (Or Butters-whatever-number-he-is-this-month.) He kept insisting in every thread about equipment options that if he couldn't rebuild it, he didn't buy it. This was resonating with me, even though it scared me.

It all went uphill from there. Now, I am a rebuilding fiend. I have to rebuild stuff or I can't stand using it. Even my Protanks and Davides, which actually give a very decent vape right out of the box, I have to recoil and wick before I am satisfied. I am constantly brainstorming new and intriguing ways to wrap coils and create the perfect vaping experience. I look forward to getting home from the office just so I can start rebuilding things. I turn the TV on but I am too busy making coils to watch any of the shows.

Please help me.

My name is Angel and I'm a Rebuilder.

Creativity, attention to detail, a bit of OCD, general purpose entertainment and the desire to make the vape gooder... nothing wrong with that - we all need a hobby, right?

Ah... what's a TV?

My next adventure is rigid ceramic in a DID RBA with organic cotton cheesecloth fibers wrapped around the top under the coil. If someone doesn't intervene, I think I might start building mods. I've been eyeing my Maglites with a vampire-like curiosity.

fc2000 porous ceramic wicks... very good; careful they are brittel and break super easy; get the right internal diameter ID...
Riptrippers vid on that gave me some of my first successful genesis vaping ... but the problem is; and everybody (just about) gave up on the cheesecloth method, is if you use a sweet juice it gunks up something horrible.
maybe worth it for just a super outstanding vape though.

now i use skinny (7x7 1/16") wire rope from kidneypuncher (they have the fc2k as well) and put a sleeve of nextel or eko wool on the top (just where you wrap the coil)... just as good and much better. eko or nextel xc, even xs, takes a beating and lasts a long time. You can rinse and dry burn when gunked.

Awesome! I feel ya. I don't see myself leaving cartomizers behind anytime soon, but.... I am planning on buying an AGA-T2 (not interested in the T3) and an IGO-L to go with my RSST. Love CVS cotton, all I use. Good luck, congratulations, be safe and have fun!

But... You can't rebuild a cartomizer :(

It's dead to me now.

Goodbye little cartomizer. I will remember you as you were - young and smiling.

V- listen to my buddy Uke, you dont want to faff around with ceramic wicks - they break too easily
