rewick my bcc with cotton from plain'ol cotton balls. (dont use the dyed cotton balls) just plain white cotton balls. works like a dream, although not sure about top coil building. i guess its possible, but i would scared in case it burns. the nova needs to be tipped to get juice up to the coil, if for some reason you forget to tip it and the coil is dry..dam thats going to suck,

I just noticed this thread was revived... Since posting this I have become quite a pro at rebuilding heads...

I have since switched to a Protank, but the concept is the same. For rebuilding, I use 32g kanthal, and cotton cheese cloth. It provides amazing flavor, great vapor production, and is cheeeap!

I have also tried out XC-116 ceramic wick, for use with Fuzion Vapors' Unicorn Blood. With silica and cotton, I get an inconsistent vape quality with Unicorn Blood, but I have a head build specifically for it. With the XC-116, I have the best of both worlds. Amazing flavor, consistent flavor production (not getting the burnt taste after setting it down for a bit) and I dont have to worry about it burning, EVER!

Its pricey, but worth it, especially since you can reuse the wick material even after the coil has long gone...

Glad I'm not the only one who tried Kanthal ribbon on Vivi Novas. I started using ribbon on my RBA's, then figured "Hey why not Vivi Novas?". To good to be true.

Some of my "Elite" vapor friends laugh at the fact I still use a few Novas, until they try my builds, clouds I create this way. And I have to many of them to just toss them.

My next experiment will be using .5mm SS rope instead of silica or mesh for the nova heads. I figure four strands should work to replace one 2mm strand of silica.

What type of Ribbon and wick are you using to get this amazing vape off the Nova. I have been vaping for about 6 weeks or so and I love my Nova on my Provari and I am definitely ready to start rebuilding them. I am very interested in the ribbon over the wire it seems to make sense to me. I think I am going with 3mm silica but I am going to get good silica. I am also going to look into bamboo a lil more and see how well it might work in a top atty tank

I rebuild mine with bamboo wick I bought at High Desert Vapes and 32 kanthal wire. The bamboo wick works great with 32 Kanthal with 5 wraps. You can buy the bamboo wick and wire on-line at High Desert Vapes (highdesertvapes.com ). They have everything you need or want at good prices and fast delivery. I only buy my wicks from them. Check them out.

I actually just purchased some from HDV a couple of days ago, havent had the chance to check it out yet. But been reading good things about bamboo.. Is it pretty "pliable", such as cotton? I believe the wick hole in my AGA-T2 is only about 1mm, so is it something you can easily split in half as well, or does it all completely unravel? I guess if I do not get a reply, I will have to update this if I have to figure out the hard way ;P.

I've got a question for y'all. Not ten minutes AFTER I placed an order for 32ga kanthal and silica wick to do my own vivi nova wick/coils, I came across a few discussion that talked about using non-resistance wire as the "tails" on both sides of the resistance wire coil.. to prevent burning of the rubber grommets. A flame war broke out and posters on both sides were arguing about you DO NEED non resistant tails, while the other side you DO NOT, don't worry about it.

So, what is the TRUTH?

I just completed my first vivi nova coil rebuild on my used 2.4 ohm head. My original coil had 7 wraps (8 coils total?). I used 32 kanthal and 2mm ekowool with 6 wraps (7 coils total?). I did that because the single braided 2mm wick seemed a little thicker than the original two twisted wicks. Anyway, it works fine and ohms out at 2.6. Close enough for me.

Oh yeah. I was so excited to try it out that I forgot to torch it or dry burn it first. My first few hits tasted like machine oil. Lol. I washed it clean then dry burned it til it stopped smoking and started getting red. Put it all back together, filled it up and vaping on it now.

So, thank you, Klynnn for your assistance.
