I just finished rebuilding the first coil for my Vision Victory tank, which uses the same atomizer heads as the Evod. When I disassembled the old one, which was marked as 2.2ohms, it had 6-wraps of 32ga. wire and 2-flavour wicks. Hoping to do away with the additional wicks, I used 3mm silica wick and 5-wraps of the same gauge wire. I opted for one less wrap to lower the resistance a bit. When I reassembled everything, I had a bit of gurgling. I put in 1-flavour wick, but it still gurgled, just not as bad, so I added one more. All said and done, I get a bit more TH and a respectable amount of vapor. The draw seems a bit tighter too, which doesn't surprise me, given the amount wick that's the head. After annealing the wire, I wrapped the wire around a round toothpick and fed the wick through the coil. The coil seemed a bit loose on the wick but I went for it anyway. I have no idea what the resistance is, as I can't find my DMM anywhere. I'm figuring around 2ohms, perhaps a bit less? Does the tightness/looseness of the coil have much of an affect on the build? I suspect that if it's too tight, the wick won't soak up as much juice, resulting in dry/semi-dry hits.

I used a 6/7 wrap with 32 Kanthal and averaged 2.0 to 2.2 Ohms pretty much every time on about 100 wicks. I suspect a 5/6 wrap would be around 1.8 - 2.0 Ohms. A little loose is good for wicking. Are you vaping on a mechanical or an ego? Almost all other APV's now have Ohm meters in them, which you need. If you are vaping on a mechanical without using an Ohm meter, you're asking for trouble, and shouldn't be recoiling as a safety precaution, especially on a first coil. I know about half the vets don't check their resistance most of the time, but it's not their first rodeo, they have the right batteries or protection in their PV, etc. Safety first and please be careful. Good luck to you!
