Kanger (old style) bottom dual coil that came with my EVOD. I followed the https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3p48kfA86Y Lightning Vapes tutorial on YouTube.

Hmmm...The Kanthal I used is really thin, 0.15mm. It's all I have on hand ATM. I could barely see the stuff once it was wrapped around the wick. I just poked and prodded till it 'felt' right and hoped for the best.

I was going for 1.5 ohms. Used 6 wraps and ended up with 1.3, but damned if it doesn't work! Hits at least as well as a good, new, stock Kanger.

I need 30 gauge wire. I want to try this again using cotton, but I know it'll be impossible to thread the wick through the wire I have.

I honestly thought my first attempt would be a failure. I can't believe the thing actually works.

So now a question...

Can someone please link me to a tutorial on how to rebuild the new (closed style) Kanger coils? I've searched to no avail.

:)

Well now you've gone and done it, have just taken your first baby step into the world of building. Now, if one really wants to improve the vape satisfaction, look for your first rba tank system. :D

Sounds like 32 gauge is what you have. Stuff's so thin that it will cut fingers if pulled on to tightly, and springy as a slinky. Torching it before hand will take some of that out, btw. :D

Do make sure and check out the Micro Coil build thread. This is where I found the skills, techniques and competence to build. It's a huge thread, bur has invaluable information and has been a fundamental resource for the evolution of vape builds.

Wrapping coils around a drill bit or mandrel, blunt tip syringe needle, ..... enables one to create consistent, repeatable, ohm targeted builds. Once one learns proper build techniques, and the finer subtitles of wicking, the rest is easy. Only by doing, following safe techniques, checking builds with ohm meters, battery knowledge, then........

... well, everything you seek is out there. take a gander at all the sub forums, if wanting to build a certain atty, YouTube is a good source, just search there.

Everything that has been done, can be found somewhere here, inside the ecf. Get a sample of 26, 28 & 30 gauge Kanthal, that will give you a wide range to find which wire you prefer for your target builds.

Vape long and Prosper.!!!
