Hi,

I received my kit and ordered different juices. Small sizes of different flavors and mixtures to see what I would like.

I know that e-cigs are safer than smoking , but have a question.

The flavors are food grade FDA approved, but are they approved for inhaling. I would think there would be a difference in eating something and inhaling it. Also I know the PG is in inhalers, and is Ok, but what about VG?

I would like some reassurance, as these are the things that are holding me back from starting.

I really want to stop smoking.

Thanks

The FDA has not approved anything about e-cigarettes. Most of the things that go into juice have been approved for use in foods, cosmetics, etc.

In my opinion, the FDA isn't looking out for my interests. They are looking out for their own interests. Their interests lie in keeping the pharmaceuticals industry happy. The pharmaceuticals industry doesn't want you to quit smoking, they wouldn't be able to "treat" you if you quit smoking.

That all sounds rather "tin foil hat" to me. Sadly, I believe it to be true.

With all of that said, I do know that what I was inhaling with cigarettes was going to kill me. I've been off of cigarettes for over three months and the improvement in my health is remarkable.

There are no guarantees that e-cigs are safe. They haven't been around long enough for long term studies. I do believe they are safer than cigarettes, though.

Your concerns are valid, I had a few and perused the following forum, it really helped me a lot in my decision to quit smoking.

Health and Medical Issues - E-Cigarette Forum

I am not convinced that these are 100% safe, but I believe they are at least 1000% safer than smoking cigarettes. Cigarettes have over 4000 ingredients in them.....how many ingredients in the e cig?

I'm with the above 2 posters - we cannot give you any guarantees - nobody can. We can however tell you how bad inhaling smoke/carbon monoxide is - its a well known fact that its very bad for your lungs. If you are making a choice between vaping and smoking then vaping is better (lung function tests don't lie), if your choice is smoking or NOTHING, then nothing is the very best option.

My take on VG is that every time cakes and brownies are baking in the oven, we're all enjoying some VG vape without even realizing it. The same can be said about artificial flavorings.

Make sure to drink lots of fluids, and if you can find some satisfaction in those little bottles of juice, you'll have a real chance to put away the lung darts with a smile on your face:)

Be Safe!

I have had the same thoughts myself. I do know that I experienced profound respiratory benefits within just a couple of weeks of reducing my 2PAD habit to about 5 analogs a day. During a recent vacation week followed by going back to tech school for a CCNA network certification, my analog intake went up to 10 or 15 a day. My lungs didn't care for it at all and I could feel the degradation. The cough and congestion started to come back and I could definitely feel the difference.

Now that I'm back down to 5 a day, everything is back to normal. It's certainly a better habit than smoking. Whether or not inhaling PG vapor all day is good for you, no one can tell us. I guess we are guinea pigs, but these pigs are much better off on PG and VG than the other 4000 chemicals we were inhaling!

Time will tell, but there are vapers on this forum who have been inhaling PG and VG for 2 or 3 years. And, they are still posting about how great they feel. There was a study done in the 40's where lab rats were divided into two groups. One group was introduced to a constant propylene glycol vapor in their environment. The other group of rats lived in normal air. The PG rats grew healthier than the rats in room air. The researchers introduced an influenza culture into both environments. The PG rats all lived. The other rats died. That was the start of PG vapor being introduced into the air handling units of hospitals. PG in an aerosol suspension is a germicide. It's not that it has any deadly chemicals in it, but that an airborne virus can't stay airborne in the PG vapor environment and it is suspected that a chemical is produced when the PG molecules merge with water molecules containing a virus and the virus dies.

Time article about a hospital test. Good reading.

Makes me wonder if those that vape aren't picking up as many viruses??? I know we're not in a completely PG vapor environment, but our lungs are...especially if you're a heavy vaporer such as myself, lol!
