Best woman stick welder around although I mig as well. LOL -- After I got my first job I found out they had gone around with my test plates having all the men look at them. After admiring them (cause I WAS darned good and could lay a pretty bead!) they would say, " A woman did that, can you believe it?" I got tired of working for sexist management and went back to college after a big layoff.[/QUOTE

Awesome, Sundrinkr!! My husband was a commercial salmon fisherman and I deckhanded for him for a couple of years. Guys were always looking for 'female deckhands' ... not only because we could actually COOK with a limited amount of ingredients but we were damn hard workers and the captains of the boats knew it. Well, of course, there were a few who wanted a female deckhand because they figured ... hey ... out on the boat for 10 days at a time ... they didn't have much success with either getting or keeping their deckhands tho. ;)

Guess this means I can purport my skills as cook, gardener and fish-cleaner, eh? :D

I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

Well I am a burned out paramedic. If any of you are going to fall or anything like that give me a shout. I can get a camera and put it on youtube for all to enjoy

I usually tell folks if they hear a thud and find me laying there, just dig a hole and say a few kind words.

We had a retired nurse up on Savary Island that acted as local first aid. She would show up to the scene, assess the situation, break out her medical kit and give herself an enormous shot of demerol!

A bit off topic here, but I had an idea for a way to perhaps repay some of the enormous favours I have recieved in the short time I have been here. I am a mechanic. I fix therefore I am. Now that I am a wannabe vaper, I check in here a couple of times a day and I would be more than happy to offer my modest skills to anyone who needs a bit of advice with their car, truck, boat, lawnmower, mother-in-law etc. Well, maybe not the mother-in-law -- unless you actually want a divorce... Perhaps I could help save you a few bucks by helping you with something you could do yourself? Or review a quote for a repair? Maybe you need to know about maintenance or service intervals? Just about anything for anything wiith an engine of any kind as I have a broad experience with myriad machines . I even have some minor experience with broads, but then again I'll leave that sort of advice to the more well adjusted among us. ;)

So if your car wont start when you desperately need to go get a gallon of juice, or your weedeater isn't cutting it and your yard more resembles the jungles of Borneo, just PM me and we'll talk. I should be able to steer you right.

Cheers!
Ok I will bite!! I have a 97' silverado stepside, and put a new engine and tranny in it (i used to race) anways, the dang thing now needs a new ignition because I lost my keys. It has been parked now for about 5 years as I will be using it in car shows hopefully in the next 10 years. I do have a new ignition and key that I got off ebay and its a GM one. Is it hard to put in a new ignition for this year of truck and what would be the cost? Also, if I were to drive it after being parked for a few years, what are some of the things I may need to do to it to help it run smooth?

... Oh dear. I better go and get a drink. lol! Seriously, I will either PM you in a few, or post an answer here. But yes. it is fairly easy to swap out the tumbler assy. It can be tricky without the key, but it can be done. And it likely can be started and put back on the road, but there are a multitude of potential issues you may have to tend to. Hang tough Danes. It will take me a bit to write something up for you. :matrix:
