So, I took my first foray into rebuilding today. I recieved my Phoenix RDA in the mail along with some 2mm wick and 32g kanthal. The Phoenix came pre-coiled, so I figured I would get in some practice with my EVOD before messing with the legit RDA.
First off, Walmart was out of the multimeter I wanted, so I figured id go it the hard way and use my Provari once I had the thing assembled. From everything I read 4-6 coils gets you in the 1.5-2 ohm range.... but first coil, 4 loops... LO reading. OK, I'll give 5 a shot, 0.8 ohms.... man, this is kind of a pain lol. The issue I'm having is that the EDOV coil body thing is so small, it's SUPER tricky to get more coils while still fitting inside.
Now, I understand that the EVOD isn't really intended for rebuilding, and, as such, is a weird set up to try and get everything in there, but it seems like I'd need 10 coils to get up to a safe number of ohms, which, aside from doing micro coils, seems pretty far fetched in that little dude. Hopefully the Phoenix will be easier since it's a more.... open sort of set up with post holes etc. Hopefully I can run by a Walmart with a multimeter in stock tomorrow as well, so I can test the coil prior to getting the whole thing assembled.
Any tips?
