What wattage range should I stick to? I downloaded a nice little chart showing to stay in between 4 and 8 watts , but is that sufficient for chasing clouds? I am going to build a dripper , mech mod soon. Right now I have a vision spinner 2 vv batter and kanger pro tank 2 and a few evod single coils. I've noticed on the evods a burnt taste around 8 watts. Is this normal?

That's normal for a plug and play tank but when you have a dripper with a handmade coil it can take a lot more heat and will handle the higher wattages i have a coil running at 120 watts on a regulated mod right now andvit handles it just fine but id recomend starting at 1 ohm and practicing building until you can repeat the same coil multiple times then your reasy to subohm if you have proper batteries and all that.

For making your own coils use a coil calculator:
Coil wrapping | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators

the little color thing on the right (blue/green/red) tells you how hot your coil will be at different wattages.

before getting a mech mod, I'd recommend getting a proper regulated mod with a screen; it will make building your first coils easier.

and yes, 8 watts can be high with the thin, tiny single coil on an evod.

There Isn't really a Magic Number when it comes to Watts. Because there is such a Wide Range of Clearos, Tanks, RBA's, etc. And each has Its own wicking abilities. And then you Could that with a Wide Range of PG to VG Ratios and Flavor Combinations.

It just gets down to What Works for Your Setup. And what type of Hit you Want out of your e-Liquid.

If I had to talk Averages. I would say that you are in a Large Percentile at 8 Watts for your setup.

I'd actually see if somebody will let you drop your drip tip into their cloud setup. It's not for everyone. It's a truck-load of vapor. A buddy of mine brought his weather creation device to our New Years party. Too much vapor for me. There's nothing wrong with a nice, dense vape that's chock-full of flavor though. He let me try his daily setup and it was really nice. It was a dual coil, 24 AWG, .6 on a dual 18650 (parallel) mech mod. I'm sorry that I can't remember exactly what atty it was. I think it might have been a Mutation with the airflow closed up a bit. Great flavor, all the vapor I could take and a pretty easy looking build.

Looking at the energy potential in a 30A 18650, things get frightening when you consider the possibilities for when things get pear shaped. If you are new to building coils and haven't read or watched a ton of videos on battery safety and Ohm's law, I would recommend that you get yourself a 50W regulated box and a couple of RBAs. Maybe a Tugboat, Magma, or a Hobo to go with it. Pick up a spool of 28 and 26 and have a go at steam-engine.org modelling your potential builds. Youtube is a great place to see what builds people are running on stuff for their purposes, whether it's flavor or the pursuit of clouds.

That's just 2 cents from a guy that's been at this less than a month. I still don't see much need for a mech in my life. They're pretty, but my box mod will do what they do and more, while doing it better, IMO. Just be safe. Best of luck to you.

EDIT: I forgot to answer your question, sorry. I vape my mini Nautilus at 10-12W and my Genitanks with their stock coils at 10W. 10 is the lowest the Sig 100+ goes, but it's a fine vape. I've rebuilt the new-style Kanger dual coils with 28 gauge singles wicked with rayon. They are happy anywhere from 10-22W depending on wicking ability.

Sitting down, facing forward.
Wicking, wicking, wicking. Did I mention wicking? If you build the best coil out of super duper wire, wound just so, mounted so perfectly and the wick can't supply enough liquid fast enough, you're stuck at low power levels. Of course, air flow gets involved as well and higher power generally means higher air flow and full lung hits rather than throat/lung.

There's no set power to vape at once you get to building your own coils and wicking them. Even then, there are subtle differences from build to build and that will vary the power a little as well.

Just make sure your batteries are capable of putting out the power that you expect to be using, even with a regulated mod.

Haha, you must have seen my first three attempts at rebuilding an Aspire BVC. Great vape until the wick went dry. That thing is a real pain to wick without KGD, which I need to buy. The Kangers were a walk in the park to rebuild, 2mm rod on the coil gizmo, 28 gauge, 6 wraps on one, 8 on another and run some rayon through them. Welcome to flavor and vapor country. Population: me.

I'll be doing a video as soon as I make some space and get my desk presentable.
