Recommendation for a mid-priced (~$50) VV/VW Mod for Drippers and RBAs?

Looking at the SVD or the ZMAX V5 as my upgrade from my current iTaste vv v3. I would like a mod that gives me the power and flexibility to play around with various builds and ohms, before I start in with using a mechanical (plus, having a built-in ohm meter will be useful when the inevitable mech mod comes into play). I am making my own juice, so running a dripper at various ohms is important.

Most people seem to recommend the MVP 2 as the best mid-priced mod, but, from everything I can tell, it's just a vv v3 with a larger battery. Since I already have a charger and batteries, the "all-in-one" aspect of an MVP 2 is less of a draw for me, and unless the vape experience is a big improvement over the vv v3, I pretty much know what to expect.

I'm leaning towards the ZMAX V5 for it's OLED screen, shorter extension length, and single button adjustments, but could be swayed by any great performance benefits found in the SVD or the MVP 2 (which *seems* like it wouldn't offer the same level of performance as the other two, but I don't know from experience).

The Vamo isn't telescoping, and seems to have more than it's share of QC issues, so I don't mind spending a bit more on an SVD, MVP 2, or a ZMAX.

Wish I could afford the sigelei 20, but it's a bit out of my budget right now… :-(

Or do I just go straight for a mechanical and use a kick? LOL

Any recommendations are most appreciated! :)

I got a used SVD last week, and I'm really liking it. You could do worse. I tried my 1st dripper on it, and found out you REALLY need to be careful about the amount of nic in your juices when using one. I don't advise driving or using heavy machinery while doing it. I just cranked up one of my go-to juices in a Vivi Nova I got today, to 4.5, and got another surprise of a serious nic hit. I'm gonna do some serious experimenting with it this weekend.

What did you upgrade from?

Spinners. Yeah, I know, I'm still learning, and there are better/cooler things out there. Just say I'm easily impressed.

Nothing to be ashamed about, lol. Spinners are a great starting set up! But I'm also glad to hear that the SVD blew it out of the water, too, lol. Encourages me to upgrade… :)

If you already have your own charger and batteries, then the Zmax V3/V5 is not a bad way to go.

Just read Yzer's excellent Zmax thread here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ic-flat-top-other-reports-one-week-later.html, especially the posts regarding battery adjustment. This will save you from prematurely killing your Zmax.

The Zmax will give you a higher voltage and wattage range than an MVP 2. But it can get rather big, especially if you use 18650's or stack 18350's.

The Zmax has a good 510 connector on it. The biggest issue with the Zmax is it's fire button. Now a lot of fire button issues are because some people screw up and over tighten the telescope, pushing the control head up into the mod and misaligning the button with the hole. But even if you don't do that, you will get the occassional misfire with the Zmax.

The OLED screen is nice but keep it away from moisture as liquid is death to an OLED screen. That means stuff that thing into a baggie before you go on the wild rapids ride at disney....

The only other issue with the Zmax is the 33.3hz chipset and the PWM on the output. Some people claim they can taste a difference, some claim they can't. Some say that burnt juice is burnt juice even if for a moment...Some say it's poppycock.

But the MVP has a flat output and does not have that problem. But then you are sacrificing 1 full volt (6.0V max vs 5.0V max) and 4 full watts (15.0 vs 11.0) when you go with the MVP.

Either choice is good. I prefer the all in one design of the MVP at that price point.
