Hello:

I have decide to switch to ecig and need some advice. I have been smoking for 50 some years, mainly Marlboro lights. I need recommendation for a good quality starter kit that won’t disappoint and won’t cost a small fortune. I am looking for a complete kit so that I won’t have to buy add ons done the road. Also, since I have smoked Marlboro lights most of my life, what vapor, liquid should I buy?

Thanks in advance for any advice

John

Unless you think you need to start out with ones sized like a cigarette, The ego kit Ken62 listed is an ideal place to start that may work for a long time. That is also a very good deal from an established vendor. The Ego batteries last most of a day and the clearomizers are the easiest to refill and give you a satisfying draw. Those smaller kits, typically the 510, have batteries that don't last very long and might not be good for very long. Whatever way you go, it's important to have at least two batteries so that one is ready when one needs recharging.

Liquid and the atomizer/clearomizer that vaporizes the liquid will have to be replaced regularly. If you are looking at a kit, contact the vendor and ask which liquid they'd recommend. On High Desert's site it looks like American Tobacco. Getting both from one place will save you shipping as well.

Marlboro type liquids are often called Cowboy or something like that to avoid hassles with manufacturers. You might want to get a couple other flavors, maybe an RY4 (tobacco/caramel/vanilla) or a berry, to see what other types there are. You might want to get 24mg or 18mg liquid to start. It gives you higher nicotine levels and helps kill cravings. I started at 24mg, moved to 18 and am now at 12 at nearly two years of vaping. Many of us started out with something that was sort of like what we smoked, but found other flavors enjoyable after a while.

Good luck!

I truly believe the eroll is the best for a starter particularly if mobility is a desired feature. it creates as good of vapor as all of the other mentioned devices but has the extra benefits of slipping in your pocket and forgetting it till you want a hit.

The other devices mentioned are fine as well but not as mobile or simple and don't vape any better.

get yourself a ego twist or spinner and a vivi nova head and youll be all set for awile HERE is a kit. the site also sells good e-liquid at about $5 a bottle.

as far as the eroll goes its a cute device and good for emergency use(think store in glove box) but with a 90mah battery youll be charging more then you are using it and it uses the crummy and expensive ego-c heads.

I like this kit for a beginner: http://highdesertvapes.com/products/eGo-650mah-CE4-Kit.html
Nice price. Your effectively paying something like $12 for each battery and $3 for each clearo.
I would recommend you also pick up a 3rd battery of 1000mah capacity, 3-4 kanger T3s, and juice.

The eroll as mentioned above is 1 of your best bets if you NEED a cig-alike type set up.
But a lot of people find the eroll to be lacking because it holds so little juice and can leak.
The battery capacity of the cig-alikes is so small, they worry me. especially as a MAIN (or ONLY) pv.
The leaking or small bat or small juice capacity can be looked passed for some, but I don't recommend it.

I like the kit mentioned above (although those 1000mah batteries are long) or a 650 to 900 mah kit + extras.
If you were to go with the eroll i still highly, HIGHLY recommend you purchase an eGo batter + clearomizers.

This is misinformation.

The case charges the battery between uses. i have never had the battery not last all day. the ego c is neither crummy or expensive.

I have egos, 510s, big battery mods; mechanical mods, spinners , vv mods, vw mods, and genesis atomizers, etc. i love the genesis on a big mod but it is not for new users.

And in fact since getting the eroll none of these devices have gotten much use. it is that good.

You obviously haven't used one so you don't know. you should get one and find out.

Another advantage is you can hold the device in your mouth like a real cig which you can't with any of these other devices

Yes there have been some reports of leaking, but i have had zero leaks and the general experience seems to be little to no leaking.

And show me a device with no reports of leaking.

i have tried them had it for all of about two days before giving it to daughter it would be fine for a light smoker not someone who smoked Reds for 50 years this guy is going to need something he can vape all day non stop not just puff on 5 times in an hour.
as far as ego-c heads they cost about $4 each to me that is expensive when you can get just about any other atty out there for less then half that,i get vivi heads for $2 each and can rebuild them for like 10 cents.can also get boge carto's for about 80 cents each and last for weeks. ego-c have that small wick in the punch tube that clogs fast when using any strong flavored juice just like the ego-t's did, one of the worst atty designs ever made.

Sure they are more expensive than rebuilding or some carts. but they last a long time can be easily wicked.

The carts are less $1 each, and don't have the old punch tube but a machine formed openings that i have had no clogs or leaks with and i have found they work for many weeks if not months

all in all we are talking pennies a day. calling them expensive is scare language to a new user. they may end up costing him $1 or 2 a month more. really not an issue.

He also didn't smoke reds. Smokeed lights the same as i did for 35 years

As far as your 2 day trial, Eroll needs to be treated different. it is not a chain vape device. boost the nic and use it like a real cig. use it 5 min, put it away pull it out 15 minutes later repeat.

Works incredibly well. no one starts vaping wanting to chain vape all day. moving to the eroll and away from chain vaping on my aga t has been liberating.

If he wants a mobile option and small size, this is it. if he wants something to chain vape at home, with no need to stick it in his pocket to play golf, hunt, or hang out at the bar, probably not.

John1211 send e a pm and i can walk you through all this. Even if you decide against the eroll it isn't a big deal. just want to get you started with something that works for you. Every device out there has people that love them and people that don't.

I have used pretty much the full range from 510 sticks to vv/vw devices with rebuildable genesis atomizers and have done larger amount of reading and watching reviews.
