Im buying my first mech just to see what the difference is, and Im not really looking to spend more than 50 bux> Im really buying them to fire my 0.5ohm subtank coils that my regulated mods won't. Any suggestions?

I keep hearing about the magneto and nemesis as good starters?

Also anything I should know as far as safety using a subohm coil with a mechmod?

Nemesis is def a good one
Heard good thibgs about the stingray x as well as its basically a nemi with some styling

Got a 20 dollar nemi clone a year ago, still works fine

A mech at .5 will fire well.

Get some good batteries
make sure its clean and nothing is shorted and that subtank will work fine.

I'd go for a Stingray X or a copper Nemesis , both are great and excellent clones can be had for under $50 . You should pick up an ohm meter or digital multimeter to check for shorts and measure your resistance and get yourself some good high drain batteries with at least a 20 amp continuous discharge rating from a reputable vendor .

If you're going to be using a tank you would probably be happier with something like a istick 50w. They fire down to 0.2 ohms. Plus with a regulated device the battery drop off won't affect your vape quality like it will with a mech. But if your mind is made up on a mech there are countless clones that come in under $50.

I cant use a box mod. A tube mod is big enough and I hang out alot Im not using a box mod in public.

To some degree it's a matter of personal preference. I can vouch for the Panzer clone, nice and chunky, recessed fire button and a trustworthy locking ring. Aesthetically the Stingray X is beautiful and hits hard, but I found it a little small and fiddly for my meathooks. Also the Stingray clones often have sticky button issues.

Not necessarily so , I run RTA's on my mechs all the time , currently running an Aqua V2 with dual coils ohming out at .3 ohms , on my Stingray X clone , hits like a sledgehammer and I'm getting a day and a half out of my vtc5's .

Clones sure have come a long way in the past year eh?
They truly have, just last year you'd be hard pressed to find a decent clone for a fair price at any B&M, but now you can find fairly high quality clones online in the states for cheap. Thus making me a clone-aholic :)

I love my smpl mods! I've got a brass authentic and 2 clones in copper and stainless. The clones will run you a whopping $15 or so. Nice tiny 18650 mod. Very happy with mine.

Do you any aesthetic preferences? Bay City Vapors just released a very inexpensive authentic mod, the Assassin. It would probably look pretty good with a Subtank Mini - assuming it's the Mini you are using.

The Assassin Mod by Bay City Vapor

I like simple stuff, not too much crap and designs on it, preferably steel. just goes with anything you put on it. I used an SVD as my everyday mod now, I like the way it looks but even in 18350 mode its probably twice as long as the battery. But something along those lines
