First time poster.

I've been vaping for almost a year and I think I've gone through all the stages that most vapors have. Started of with the disposable ecigs that you find in convenience stores, but found them very unsatisfying. Decided to try a Vision Spinner w/ a Protank, and although it was a step in the right direction, it still wasn't enough to get me off of analogs. Then came subtanks and bigger, fancier devices that were able to put out more power. Next thing you know, the man who said he had no interest in ever building coils was buying his first rda. After experiencing that, well, cigarettes just seemed kind of lackluster. Freedom was achieved.

Now the majority of my experience with devices consists of either single or dual 18650 regulated mods. The one unregulated box mod that I've bought wasn't a very good one. Even with my lack of experience I can tell it has some serious voltage drop issues. That being said, I've been considering buying a mechanical tube mod. I don't want to spend a whole crap ton of money to do this, and I think I'm leaning towards a Wotofo Phantom. This is virgin territory for me though, so I thought it couldn't hurt to pick the brain of the community. There are just so many options out there it's enough to give someone a headache. The only part I'm sure about is that I don't want a hybrid connection. Thoughts?

End of Line.

If they weren't out of business, I'd suggest something from SuperT, but you can lurk the classifieds for a Simplicity Workhorse. Brand new they were around $99 for the telescopic version (that's the one I have) and fixed tube sizes for around $70.

In the new, under $100 category, two that I've been thinking about are the Ragnarok from VLS, and the Dharma/Dharma V2 from KidneyPuncher. I don't have experience with either of those, but they seem to be well thought of so far, and are getting good praise on the net.

That Ragnarok is nice! I really wanted to stay away from spending $100 on a mechanical mod, but that is the first one I've seen that might be worth it. After watching a couple of YouTube reviews it's definitely on my wishlist. Good call sir. Anybody else got a winner?

End of line.

I recommend the Stingray X, it's the most aesthetically pleasing and best performing mech I have. Copper on the inside, SS on the outside and a floating 510 pin. You can pick up a clone for about $25. I suggest the Kepler as it has a one piece tube which further reduces voltage drop.

Incidentally OP, did you know that the picture in your avatar is of American nuclear weapon test Badger from Operation Upshot-Knothole in 1953. It was fired from a 91 meter tower and was roughly the same yield as the bomb that was exploded over Nagasaki in 1945.

Atomic weapons, they chuck the clouds!

Nice Sonicbomb. I actually did not know that. I'm gonna do a little research on that Stingray tonight when I get into work. I have to admit that I'm a little wary concerning clones, so if anyone can tell me who is the authentic manufacturer for the Stingray, it would be appreciated. Though I suppose I could just use some Google fu.

Ok. New question. The Ragnarok can be purchased in either copper or stainless steel. I'm not completely sure if that means the battery contacts are also copper or stainless steel. Having a bit of an issue finding an answer on that one. Maybe it doesn't matter. Is there a benefit to having your contacts made out of one particular metal or another?

Still planning on doing a little research on that Stingray tonight. It is a pretty sharp looking mod. That tail that's etched into the bottom is just too much, & I definitely tend to be a sucker for things like that.

    End of line.

I have a Rangarok and several Stingray Xs.

Check Vaporrange for either. I paid $30 for an authentic Rangarok and $15 each for my last two Infinite Stingray Xs there. And free shipping.

Fantastic. After doing a little YouTube research I'm pretty sure I want one of each. It would be nice not having to take a second mortgage on my house to do it. Saw one guy on ebay that was selling an authentic JD-Tech Stingray for just under $1,000. Geesh.

For those prices, go for it :). $45 gets you 2 great mods.

    King knurled (clone).
    Recessed button
    Lock ring
    Adjustable 510 for battery rattle
Built like a tank, hits like a sledgehammer.
    $15-20
Comes in copper brass or stainless.

Wow. That is a beautiful mod. Not quite as sexy as the Stingray, but very nice.

You know the more of these mods that I see, I just can't help but wonder when someone's going to make one that looks like a lightsaber hilt. Maybe with an electronic atomizer that will glow red when I hit it. Now that I would pay serious money for.

    End of Line.

If it's power you need why not get a dual battery mod; plus there are many dual battery regulated mods nowadays

Your absolutely right, and I have a few of those, but this is an area I haven't really explored yet. For all of the people that I know who love their regulated mods, there are just as many people who swear by mechanicals. I want to see what side of the fence I ultimately end up on.

I'm not sure it's showing me the entire picture. All I can see is the top of the atomizer with the LED attached. Definitely enough to peak my interest though. Looks like it's Google Fu time again.

It's an RDA, a ridiculous one. If you click the link, you'll see the rest of the atomizer, with the topcap and all.

    It's basically a gimmick. Don't buy it ;)
