Refilling Cartridges - Not My Skill

I've watched a few Utube videos about refilling cartridges with Tea Bag Liners or Aquarium Foam. Tried the tea bags today and it just tasted wrong. Bought some aquarium foam but am sure he sold me the wrong thing - its a Marineland Foam Sleeve. I asked him for a filter that was "U" grade as suggested in one of the videos.

I've probably got about a week until my cartos and new juices come in - any advice?

Need a little more info. What cartridges are you trying to refill? Most cartridges have that filler in them and you just drip the juice on that or use the condom method (which im not a big fan of). You can also use a syringe with a blunt tip needle to fill them also.

They came pre-filled with my new 501 Riva. Not cartomizers, 4 of the 5 have filling inside but taste nasty. Thought you could just pull the white stuff out and put in a tea bag liner or aquarium filter.

I blew out the Atomizer, put a couple drops of juice inside the atomizer and replaced the cartridge filler w/ a rolled up ball of Aqua Foam. Voila - works - no more yukk. Guess I had a dry atomizer.

If you cut your own, cut it a bit shorter than the inside depth of the juice cup, a tiny bit wider (just enough to help it stay in place, not so much that you close up the holes in the foam) and taper the inner end a bit. On a full fill, pull the foam. fill the juice cup 1/2 way (2/3 only if you are daring it to spill), insert the tapered end of the foam and press the foam down into the liquid to get it wet (and unbent small smooth paperclip helps). Then reposition the foam even with the top edge of the juice cup. Then top it off with 1-4 drops of juice - what ever it needs to look just damp and not a puddle. if you have a 510 you are ready to vape. If you have some kind of ecog with carts that slide OVER the atty then you now have to get the juice cup mack down inside the mouthpiece WITHOUT pressing on the stuffing (i.e. do not use the atomizer to push the juice cup cack down)

I'd suggest ditching the cartridges completely and practice "dripping" directly onto the bridge of the atomizer. IMO, most of the cartridge mods like the Pyramid Tea Bags or Blue Foam are more trouble than they're worth. Dripping 2-4 drops directly onto the atty, then adding ~2 drops whenever the flavor starts to drop off produces the best flavor. It takes a little practice, but its VERY worthwhile. Many vendors sell "Drip Tips" which are basically empty cartridges with a hole through the middle for dripping without having to remove the tip.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to try dripping but want to wait for my back up atomizers. New to this and not too many back ups yet - w/o my PV I would have a hard time staying away from the analogs. Nearly 2 weeks analog free!

I know the feeling! Once I started dripping there was no looking back. I like the dual coil cartomizers enough to use those while driving, but otherwise I won't use carts.

don't be intimidated by it...try just dripping just two drops of your favorite e-liquid directly onto the atty and vape. the key is tokeep out wet without flooding it...if you accidentally use too much, a paper towel or napkin can soak up the extra and try again. just stuff a bit into the atty and blue through the battery end to clear it out and try again....it's pretty forgiving most of the time--really it's just at "high voltage" that you have to be careful to not let it go dry and overheat. At normal voltage, a drop our two is all you need and you'll taste the difference.

I gave up on carts about a month into vaping. I drip and use a Liquinator tank with dual coil cartos. That's vaping nirvana for me!

Glad you got it resolved. You've hit on two important aspects of using atomizers and carts. First, it's a good idea to blow out your atomizer every once in awhile and always blow out a new atomizer. Some have quite a bit of lousy tasting primer fluid in them. Second, always drip a few drops of liquid directly on the atomizer before replacing the cartridge.

Heck, I STARTED with the Liquinator (after my first throwaway cig lookalike). I will not use anything else at home - it just works. The car - not so much. I find that I like the clearos better than the cartos. Talk about easy to fill! However, the best ones I've used so far came from an eGO VV kit I received yesterday from GotVapes. They are described as "5 top-coil 2.8ohm clearomizers" - but I cannot for the life of me find any replacements on their site.

I gave up on using cartridges once I discovered dripping. But then, I had to be careful about flooding the battery. Two drops was all my little Volcano and Blu could handle. Same deal with the Inferno. I was always having to stop whatever it was I was doing to add more juice to the atty bridge.

I've since gotten another PV that uses cartomizers. Much, much better. I can either use the drip method to saturate the wick or use the "condom" method.
