That's a really good idea, Killer!
Probably best accomplished by taking the mod completely apart and preheating the intended workpiece with a torch and using the expensive silver solder, but I could see that working out well... basically re-plating without all of the hassle of setting up an electroplating process...

You might want to try a anti-oxidation product. It's pretty much a must have for electricians.
It conducts electricity well & can bring some temporary life back to worn contacts.

Ideal 30-024 Noalox Anti-Oxidant Compound .5 oz. Tube

Wow, Not sure if this crazy looking link will work but it for Ideal Noalox at Home Despair, Ooops, Depot. HeHe.
Say's a small tube is $2.72

Perhaps that might help you.
