Greetings from page 60!
At about page 5 of this thread, i ordered a couple of 1.8 ohm 501 attys from Empire, along with a shield and delrin drip tip.. all for my first explorations into dripping. Now at page 60, i'm running amok through my juice stash and am a wicked happy dripping camper. When i have run into an issue, i turn the page here and get an answer. Awesome :) So far only one dry hit, and more than a few instances of flooding, but I'm getting there! Ok, back to catch up. I.just wanted to raise my hand as a convert!

I'm glad you're enjoying it. Are those atties still kicking?

Oh yes they are! I've got 8 more in a cart at EM, wondering if i should hold out and baby my two.until they have another sale.
So I've been changing flavors like a madwoman-because i can!-and wondering how to get that last bit of flavor out of the mesh. I went from butterscotch to.root beer then back to butterscotch, and just can't shake a little root beer flavor.... Not that the two mixed is bad, its actually pretty good! I've rinsed well and dried everything, and its still there. Do i just need to give it it's own atty?

So I bought a 510 dripping atty at a B&M in Baltimore while I was visiting my mom. I primarily wanted it just to sample new juices I had, as opposed to filling a whole tank. I finally tried it last night, and there is such a difference! I am so glad I got it because the majority of the juices, I didn't like. Anyways, can anyone point me in the direction of the terminology used in dripping? Like bridge, bridgeless, etc...Not really sure what all of that means. TIA!

Happy Dripping!

What I've done with mine is rinsed them out well with hot water then soaked them overnight in a shot of cheap vodka. That usually removes any residual flavors completely. The next day I rinse them out with hot water again, stuff them with a twisted paper towel to soak the moisture out, then pull the towel out and let them air dry for a while.

Once they are dry make sure you prime them by adding 5 or 6 drops of your next juice and let them sit for 10 or 15 minutes. Then add 3 or 4 more drops and vape away.

Exactly what I was about to say! I'll just add, don't use isopropyl alcohol -- just vodka or Everclear.

I asked this on the Nat Tobaccos thread, but it seems better to ask here: What are the differences between 510 long and short barrel attys and 306 attys?

The barrel length is simply the total length of the atomizer. The longer barrel will result in a slightly cooler vape, and if the juice spits at all there is less of a chance that it will end up in your mouth. Personally I prefer the long barrels.

I've never used any 306 atty's but I do know that the 510 and the 306 use the same connector so they will both work on any 510 batteries/mods you have. I think I read once that the diameter of the 306 is slightly smaller than the 510 so they use different drip tips but I could be mistaken about that.

You are correct, sir. Different drip tips for 510s and 306s.

Yes, definitely don't use rubbing alcohol. And if you go the vodka route there is no need to use Grey Goose; the stuff I use costs me $10 for 1.75 liters of it at my local liquor store.

The 306 is just a coil and cup on a 510 connector. The 306 drip tip is tip and barrel in one. It fits tightly around the atty and you drip directly into it. Lots of people swear by 306's. I haven't had much luck with them myself.

That's the stuff I used to drink lol. No need for the top shelf brands.

For 306 atties.. some people get great results with them; I never did. And try, boy did I try. I'd say they are worth giving a shot since some people love them, but if your results aren't great don't feel bad about moving on right away.

Never tried 306s... seem like they are a hold over from earlier times, no?

I have two atty types I am using currently... a shorty 2.0ohm 510 bridgeless (the one with the plate with the holes) and a LR long barrel 1.5 ohm 510 bridgeless that I got from Smartvapes (1st one was defective, but the second one is awesome).

Key accessory is the drip shield I also got from SV... the little 510 shorty leaks like a sieve if you use more than a couple of drops... with that shield on, I can be a little sloppy and it'll vape like a champ for quite some time... same for the long barrel. With the 510/510 I pop on the end, no mess and the capacity is considerably higher.

I'm LOVING my little dripping attys. For the first time in... man.. maybe 6 months, I busted out my old 650 P-T ego. That LR atty vapes like a boss on that thing. Goes to show that you don't need fancy mods or gear to get a great vape. Makes me consider picking up some larger capacity standard egos to use just for dripping.

Hey... question to those who use shields... is the hole placement a pick your poison kind of thing? Keep it up top and you get a tight draw but not really any leak worries, keep it on the bottom and trade the looser draw for less 'protection'?

Shields are meant to be used with the holes near the drip tip end. If you can get good results with it reversed and no leaking problems though, go for it, noone will take away your dripping privileges. I was a big shield user too as a notorious over-dripper. EmpireMods makes the best ones, got a few of them.

Thanks for the tips silver, cherry and jerms! This is the most I've seen in agreement for using grain alcohol over rubbing alcohol. But, having the drinking kind at hand is not an option for me. I have had decent results using rubbing alcohol sparingly with my protank attys, save the grommets and cap drying out prematurely. Why is it a bad thing? Are there any other soaking options?

Having drinking alcohol on hand isn't an option for me either, and I used isopropyl alcohol. Get the highest % you can find, I used 91%, and make sure the ONLY ingredients listed are isoproyl and water. Isopropyl evaporates, just don't use the atty right away after or you can rinse with water.

My routine was to use an atty a couple/few days. Soak in alcohol when taste started being effected from gunk, blow it out well, fill with pure glycerine (vg), and stick carto condoms on each end until it gets used again. I kept a few atties in rotation, so it would be at least a week before getting to that atty again.

Tip to make drip shields more airy: remove the top o-ring, if it has one.

306s are great! I recommend them to any dripper. If you like them, you might try them in a DCA, grail, drip body, Amp tank, Vela Latina, etc.
