I've been happily dripping away now for almost a week, still on the same atty. I rinse well at night, used a bit of iso last night and rinsed again before going to bed. So after errand running this morning i drip in 6 drops, let atty sit about twenty minutes, drip in four more drops and get nothing. Click voltage up to 3.8 and pull harder this time and get a mouthful of juice. Blech. Also a bit of seepage out of the bottom. So next few minutes are vape, spit, wipe. No vapor at all during this time, then it finally gets going after four or five rounds. This is the first time i've had this issue. Its never taken more than two good pulls with cleaned atty to get it going. What gives?

Sounds like it was still wet.

Rather than your cleaning routine try blowing the atty out from the battery end before bed. Nothing else.

I'm overthinking cleaning it :/ I put a couple drops of vg in last night before bed, fiddling with it this morning and its still being fussy. I will give a go at just blowing it out tonight.

A prob a hadn't considered: I'm getting spoiled! Switching back to protank after dripping and taking half an hour to get over the loss in flavor!

I haven't been on the forum in awhile, but Im still dripping away! The best atty I've used to date is the stingray 306. The one I'm on now I have been using for over 2 months and I've only cleaned it once. I prefer the 306 to the 510 as I feel the flavor, hit and reliability is better than the 510s, but that's just my experience, maybe I've just been unlucky with 510s.

Where do you buy your atties?

Is there a small cone you can get to support the 306? Or do you use a normal one with a long drip tip? If so, how long is the drip tip and where did you get it?

Thanks. :)

I get the attys and tips from the house of vapor and just use a long delrin drip tip, nothing fancy and its about the same size as a 510 with a regular drip tip. ive just been using them on an ego twist with a cone, but have a vamo on the way and thinking of picking up a drip shield for it.

I've got a question that I'm hoping the readers of this thread might know, so I thought I'd ask here. If someone could point me to a thread (or just pm it), that would be super.

I believe the first drip tip was invented in 2010 and I've read a story of how it showed up at a vape meet and was made by a vaper.... and then soon after produced for sale.....and can't find the story. :(

Who was the first to manufacturer and sell? Was it Super T with a steel tip? Was delron the first in the "plastic" materials?

(I drip too, but not near as much as I used to.......and it's a pleasure to have learned how.)

I bet DC2, RPad or billherbst would know, or know where to look. That's a tough one.

I don't know the precise history, but Super T's metal tip was the first one I saw advertised online and referred to on ECF. Nhaler was an early source for plastic drip tips. What I remember most about the first wave of drip tips is how outrageously expensive they were. 6-8 bucks each. Are they kidding? No doubt some of the initially high prices were due to economies of scale, but still...

As for plastics, I don't know what kind/formulation was used initially. The fact that so many vendors spell "delrin" as "derlin" makes me wince.

Here's an article that was posted on another thread and a quote from it. The article is a pretty good read.
Inside the world of vapers, the subculture that might save smokers' lives

"“You’re not downgrading from a cigarette. You’re getting something more,” says Chris Mikovits, who co-owns e-cig retailer CherryVape with his business partner, Cheryl Richter. Well known in the world of vaping, Mikovitz used his skills as a carpenter to create the most copied “drip tip” – the piece you put your lips on when vaping an e-cig – on the market."
