What if someone (say ... um... John-Doe-Vet starts a welcome thread (ahead of turning) for Bill-Smith-prevet. Not a PVT thing. Do they get into the contest? I don't care if it is yes or no, but I don't know as the rules are. Before, we had a line about making an entry in the PVT for that reason, if I remember correctly since we had this discussion already months ago.

I don't want to make it complicated (actually, it's complicated by itself, we just have to deal with that fact), so I guess I'll leave....for now :p

Atty, dear, please don't leave... we can't just all leave. We have to "stay calm and carry on," at least for the remainder of the year. :)

The scenario you're describing is a big hypothetical and we discussed it at length--and we agreed that we would allow any vet to open a thread for any prevet as long as they inform the PVT crew that they are doing it--it can be done in the thread or via PM. AFAIK, this has NEVER happened, and is unlikely to happen. So I wouldn't worry too much about it. And if we see an unauthorized thread like that in the NMWF, we can just contact the OP and ask that they stop at PVT and say hello so that we all know what's going on and add the thread to our list--if they want to be eligible contest. If they don't care about the contest, they can have a thread without informing us. It's really simple. Atty.

Even I thought avatar parties had to have a theme. 'cuz.... what do you put in the avatar otherwise?

The name of the new vet, the date they become vet, a line of congratulations or welcome, a balloon, a cupcake, a cake with or without a candle, a sparkler, a party hat, a flower, a box of chocolates, confetti, a kazoo, a glass of champagne, a rainbow, a unicorn, fireworks, festive ribbons and bows, a corsage, a lei, a diploma, a gold medal, white clouds, blue sky, a star, a happy face emoticon, a thumbs up emoticon, pretty stationary...or nothing.

The only requirement for the avatar party is their presence at the turning. Everything else is optional. :)

So, is bam a boy for sure?

And is s/he in or out?

IMHO, if someone declines, he should be taken off the list--to avoid unnecessary confusion. God knows we have enough confusion here... We decided to give him a couple of days to reconsider; it's been a week... almost.

We can add him back to the list if/when he changes his mind.

The only reason I even said SHE to begin with was discussions about Hola and Bams. At least one was a "she" so .... Probably just said it that way. It only matters if he/she gets back on the list again.

I agree with Kat, get em off the list fast.

(((hugs))) for atty - did we ever get a response to our original proposal???? i rather go with three sentences reflecting our basic rules and having them accepted than staying in limbo.
apparently, those sentences made sense to j0ker who wanted k.i.s.s. and, no matter how you look at it, to have the thread started BEFORE a turning was most important to us. this automatically excludes self-started threads AND allows pvt to be by-passed if somebody so desires.
and contrary to what jj claimed i have not seen even one eligible thread that was started without pvt involvement.

That pretty much covers it, IMO.

No need to PM J0ker. He's had enough of us and our rules.

In the hypothetical and highly unlikely event that a thread is started by a vet without consulting PVT, we contact the thread opener and explain the rules of eligibilty for the contest and the necessity of PVT involvement in order to have the thread properly marked for J0ker.

Carry on. :)

I deleted it Kat... because I took it wrong. See above. I read it as you're being condescending. But... like I said I deleted it. I was tired and had a long day.

And... I deleted it at 10:20 and your reply is at 10:25. Do you see anything other than ".............."?

I don't believe in proxy votes. Thanks.
