That pretty much covers it, IMO.

No need to PM J0ker. He's had enough of us and our rules.

In the hypothetical and highly unlikely event that a thread is started by a vet without consulting PVT, we contact the thread opener and explain the rules of eligibilty for the contest and the necessity of PVT involvement in order to have the thread properly marked for J0ker.

The rule thing was mentioned to fix it before the fact. You're proposing after-the-fact fix-ups in the event it happens. Fine with me either way. We just went at it from different directions in time. As long as the contestants don't object.

There was some..."attitude" voiced by participants during the initial contest launch. I don't want anyone with an axe to grind to be able to play "loophole" games. Not that it's guaranteed, only ... this is the internet after all... so it can happen. The rule thing was a CYA for us and j0ker. If you don't think it's needed, OK by me. Address it after the fact then, if it even happens.

Remember I was in the "keep-it-simple, let everyone that turns vet this year in" camp. Just to avoid having to hash out all this stuff.

email coming, ces!

atty, i'm obstinate! i paid for this once i shall not do so again :D

The only office stuff I have is MS's free add-in viewer for word docs. Keeps "updating office" in ms-update... even though I don't have it. :D

There was a time I just used open-office (LibreOffice now a fork) since I didn't have a spare $400.00 or whatever to drop on MSO-pro.

http://trinitysoftwaredistribution....de=TSD&Screen=PROD&Product_Code=269-06738-oem - MSO Pro 2003 $69.00 ... just in case :D (I didn't look at it very close... double check).

(you might have to use the code that goes with the disk...but if so it's no big deal. If i have a disk, I have the code)

Well, since she has a true legal license anyway... I guess that works. I didn't see that though. :D MS software validation may or may not care, IDK. It can probably tell the diff between corp packs and not. She could back it up in court, but the software may not know she really had a valid (other) license. The licenses on the CD at work were probably "upgraded" to later versions. IDK. Gets nasty to figure out.

You're correct Atty, but since the key will be from a site licence, and from software that is no longer supported, and that i think is prior to verification, it'll probably be ok... IF i even have the CD (if i have one, it'll be a copy from the first install and not have been upgraded) . Worst case it might get tibs through this round of billing and buy some time until she can get everything updated and transferred. She won't want to keep it in the long term anyway. Since it's not supported, it'll be full of security holes.

I just installed Apache OpenOffice on my netbook - Apache OpenOffice - The Free and Open Productivity Suite. 130MB download. I've used this off-and-on over the years, not a whole lot different from MS Office - and always good to have for, at least, a back-up.

tibs, do what I used to do in the 'good ol' days' - start a large download just before going to bed; unless there's a hiccup, it's ready for you in the morning :D

attention all thread starters!

please, check your opening post for mistakes, i.e. date and name of the upcoming vet asap! remember, you only have a few minutes to correct the title, 48 hrs for editing the post itself.
since none of our team volunteered to take over the position of mod in that subforum we have to send all editing requests to classy who graciously offered her assistance. with isaac almost guaranteed to impact classy's part of florida, we need to be extra careful.as to not require her help more than necessary.
jj still shows as a mod even though she absolved herself from all responsibilities and that might be an option for those of us who feel comfortable approaching her.
