100 watts is 100 watts, doesn't matter if it's a regulated or mech mod. And as you know, with a mech mod you have more options for coil design and more safety.

My stuff is all mech, but if I were getting into it now, I would go regulated.

I think you meant more safety with regulated? You said mech :p
There is also options liked the dovpo gx-200.... Unregulated, but with built in safety features. It won't fire as low ohms as a regular unregulated, but could be a good compromise if you don't build lower then .3 or so. Personally I prefer regulated devices in general.

+1 Regulated (with the exception of my Reo's)

With a mech mod the only way to "fine tune" your vape is to build a new coil. With a high vv/vw regulated mod (and its buck/boost circuitry) you can "fine tune" with a push of a button. On a mechanical mod your voltage drops as you vape, with a regulated mod this does not happen. Your first hit is just as good as your last hit.

And much more flexibility with regards to coil building.

Great read! My thoughts about sub-ohm and latest VV/VW devices...

i think the only pro of an unregulated boxmod is that it has room for two batteries if it was the same size as a regulated mod. regulated box mods that are the same or close to the same as unregulated 2x18650 box mods only has room for one 18650 due to the electronics having to be in there. they have 2x18650 regulated box mods but they would be bigger than a no-guts 2x18650 unregulated box mod. that's about the only thing i can come up with. regulated makes everything better.
