Somehow the neat stack of books I had decided to go through lost its priority and I went through Patric Rothfuss' "The Name of the Wind" and "The Wise Man's Fear " and they are amazing! So anyone in the mood for some good plot and character driven fantasy these two books would be a good choice.

As soon as I read that introduction about the three layers of silence, I knew I was going to like The Name of the Wind. The plot's a bit slow at times, but there's plenty of beautiful writing and character development that makes up for that.

Fantasy sure has gotten better in recent decades... Patrick Rothfuss, G.R.R. Martin, Robin Hobb, Joe Abercrombie, Jacqueline Carey...

I just Finished up this one...

http://www.amazon.com/Firehurler-Twinborn-Trilogy-Book-1-ebook/dp/B00BA5VEXG

... and it wasn't bad at all.

Not your Typical plot of a Blacksmith's Son coming of Age to find out he is the Kings Son.

And the Kindle Price is Not Bad Either. $0.00

Thanks for the recommendation. Sounds good... just added it to my Kindle.

Firehurler was VERY good.

Has anyone subscribed to Amazon's $10 library yet? Is it worth it?

The 2nd Book is Very Good Also. I'm about 1/3 of the Way thru the Last Book.

---

I looked at Amazon's Unlimited. Not sure if it would be a Great Deal for me or Not?

One thing you have to Understand about it, you are Not Buying any Kindle Books. You are "Borrowing" them. So when you Cancel your Unlimited Subscription, the books you got for "Free" will be Deleted.

Not a Huge thing for me. Because I don't read too many books Twice. But something you should consider.

    Hey guys.

I've also been on the fence over the Unlimited. Like Zoid, I'm happy just reading once. I also like the WhisperSync.

Think I'm going to wait until the cold weather sets in. Enjoying the outdoors at the moment.

I have been adding on to the Kindle in the meantime using a freesource-

eBookDaily - Free Kindle Books. EVERY DAY!

Zoidman- have you tried the Clive Cussler series?

    Doesn't Ring a Bell?

I have gotten to the point where I have Read so Many Series, that it is Hard to Remember if this was the Author I Really Liked? Or the one I thought Sucked? If I see the Cover of the 1st Book, it will usually Jog my Memory.

I'll do an Amazon Search in a little While. Panting a Hall Right Now.

I have been unhappy lately with ebook daily-- just don't see much that gets my attention.

Clive Cussler gives me adrenalin overdoses. One or two was enough.

Definitely a "guy" book, lol. I only like reading "cleaner" books, and that's all I've found mostly except for the old classics.

    I'm into Plot Twists.

I mean Face It, we all kinda Know what is Going to Happen at the End. Good Triumphs Over Evil. And the Hero Rarely Dies. Or if he Does, he Ascends to so Higher Level (Mostly for the Purpose of a Sequel).

The Plot Twists is what Keeps me into a Series.

Take Something like Mary Stewart's "The Crystal Cave". You know how things are gonna turn out for the Most Part. But the getting there keeps you Interested. That and the Writing Style is Completely Unforced. And flows like Clear Water in a Mountain Stream.

    A True Classic.

One that has be Copied about 10,000 Times.

Thanks, r77. I will try those two. Overdrive is what our local library system uses, but I have never gotten it to work. I have Calibre, but rarely use it. I don't have any problems with transferring my computer library to my Kindle. It is HUGE, because of all the out-of-print stuff I have used for my writing project.

Anything Arthurian is predictable. Have you read Geoffrey of Monmouth (the original of the Arthurian legend)?

I hate to say this. But to me, Most of the Fantasy I read is Pretty Predictable. But if there are some Plot Twists, and the Writing is Good, I like it.

TY, Omg. I think I'll put his "The History of the Kings" on my reading list for the future. Right now, I'm stumbling thru The Odyssey.

A friend was looking for recommendations yesterday and I remembered a trilogy that I really enjoyed. Thought I'd post it here.

Wool (Omnibus Edition), by Hugh Howey. It's near-future (almost contemporary in places) sci-fi. It was great all around: plot, setting, characters, and writing style. I rarely re-read books, but I'm sure I'll read these again at some point. (The other books in the trilogy are Dust, and Shift.)
