RDA REMatty questions

Anyone have any experience with the REMatty yet? I got my yesterday and am having a hell of a time getting a good build in it. Tried a dual coil setup, but the way I had the coils positioned made it waaaayy to hot and uncomfortable. I have a single coil in it now, but the flavor and vapor is weak, but it doesn't get a scorching hot anymore.

I'm not stranger to short rda's as I have a few derringers as well. I just can't seem to find the sweet spot with this one. Anyone have any tips or builds I should try?

Are you using a mech? If so, then you build for the net resistance/wattage per Ohm's law... and don't have the luxury of adjusting wattage up or down as needed.

You can run thicker wire, which will reduce the coil radiant heat due to increased wire mass/density. The side benefit of thicker wire is frequently more net coil surface area. The more surface area, assuming you can heat it and wick it effectively, is more and denser vapor.
No thicker wire? You can increase the net resistance... which would have the same result, a cooler radiant heat.

I am running it on a mech. Currently the thickest wire I have is 26 gauge. First build I put in it was dual 6 wrap 26 gauge with a 2.5mm diameter coil.

Crunching the numbers (and assuming Kanthal A-1), you're around 0.4Ω and pulling 40 watts, with a heat flux of 221 mW/mm². That's slightly warm, but not hot... so I'm guessing you're taking long draws, and may not have the AFC open all the way. I don't see any other reason for what you refer to as "waaaayy to hot".

Saying that, heat is somewhat subjective, so if you have any 25 gauge, the same build/same resistance would drop the heat flux down into the 150+/- mW/mm² range. Going to a net resistance of 0.5 ~ 0.6Ω would have a similar result.

I think I figured out what my main issue was. I had the coils too high off the build deck and too close to the top cap. And when I said it was getting too hot, I meant the tip and the top cap, not the vapor itself. I rebuilt with dual 6 wrap 3mm ID 26 gauge and pushed the coils down toward the deck a little further. Seems to be working a little better now.
