Removing Heat Stains?

Hello everyone!

Because of an awesome sale today at my local B&M, I was able to acquire a Hades and a Cerberus for pretty cheap. Unfortunately, my first build on the Cerberus didn't go as planned. I ended up shorting the hell out of it, and was greeted with some wonderful burn marks on the SS top cap. Are there any ways to remove these, or make them fade? It doesn't bother me too much, I was just curious.

First use some metal polishing/cleaning liquids to see if you can remove them (don't know if those marks are deep and strong). If it wont work you can use some machines like car waxing. If still remains you need to have professional help for re-polishing.

They really don't show up on the camera. I tried some vinegar, and perhaps tomorrow I'll try some polisher and such.

You might try that cream polish that's for ceramic-top stoves; you rub it on, let it dry, and buff it off just like car wax, but it's just chalk in liquid form; it gets burnt-on grease off cookware too, and scorch marks off stainless saute pans.

Toothpaste and/or baking soda both will polish...try it on the inside before using it on the outside so it's not visible in case of an "Oops"

I read a few things online about using club soda to get them off, does this have any validity?

barkeepers friend or WHITE toothpaste and backing soda might even get it with a scotch bright pad.

Well I tried both white toothpaste and brasso, but the markings only seem to have faded a bit. Is this probably the best it's going to get? If it wasn't brand new I wouldn't care a single bit.

If it was mine and couldnt get them off i would get a torch and heat treat the whole atty, i like the colours you can get.

Try that stuff that's used to clean ceramic-topped stoves -- it gets scorch marks off stainless miraculously. I thought I had ruined a nice stainless saute pan I have, but that stuff got it looking like new again.
