As I have already stated, I think the new buttons are pretty cool too. That said, am I the only one or have others found that the increased leverage the big button provides often places the button in the "off" position accidentally? Keeping it in my shirt pocket, I find that happening all the time. No big deal since the increased leverage also makes it a one-finger or thumb maneuver to roll it back to "on". Just something I've noticed. Maybe it's only me and my peculiar way of thumbing(I always use the thumb) the button. Wouldn't surprise me at all.:)

I do the same thing with mine, Dave, but for me it's easy to just nudge it back to firing position, which sure beats cramping thumbs from the exertion with the small button! The small buttons aren 't arthritis friendly, lol

I also accidentally bump my new button to the off position regularly..I believe it was Rhapsodies Fire who mentioned how she disabled the "off" feature..something about pushing the little pin into the button shaft. I looked for it and tried to push what I though was the pin, but just ended up with a little scratch around the button well that only looked like it would get bigger if I continued trying..lol..I decided it wasn't a big enough annoyance to risk further disfigurement of my Mini.

has anyone figured out the easy way to maybe do this? I know it can be done as I bought a Grand second hand that had been altered in this way...without any scratches I might add.

Remove the button use a pair of pliers very carefully squeeze until the dowel pin is completely inside the button .Try not to mar the button there is very little clearance for the button .
The button is moving because your rolling your finger when you press the button . This can be done without removing the button but the easiest way is to remove it . I have done it with a small flat head screw driver

Hi Rob, and thanks for the answer..yeah, I know I'm rolling the button when I push it..the new button top makes this much more likely than with just the "naked" button cause now there's much more torque with the larger diameter...don't want to sound stupid here, but when you say "remove the button", are you referring to the entire original button or the added top? I have to assume you mean the original button and if so, what's the way to do that? Do I yank it from the top? (seems dangerous), remove the black firing pin housing and push it out from underneath?...I can see the little dowel pin by just looking down there, but there's no way of getting a pair of pliers onto it without removing the whole original button..not sure what's holding the button in anyway and don't want to break it!

remove the the added top button. Then remove the black firing pin housing and push it out from underneath then take the pin out. then reassemble and be careful to not over tighten the screw.

Wait. Wait. I thought we weren't to remove the screw!! :)

I remember asking this question a year ago and i was told it was tough to get back together.

You are remembering correctly. That screw can easily strip when putting it back together. Since you can not see the hole where it goes it can be tough to line up correct. Over tighten it and it will probably strip.

Much better to use something flat and push the pin in with everything still intact!

I did push the pin in with everything still intact 1st but the pin was a little long so it would still lock in mine so I had to take the pin out

well, this has turned into a cluster you know what, at least for me..firstly, the button can not be pushed up from underneath, it must be pushed down from the top of the REO, with the firing pin moved out of the way..the button has a collar on it that makes it impossible to remove "upwardsly"..lol, not a word but maybe it should be. OK, so I swung the firing pin away, removed the button downwardsly, and tried to press the pin (not the firing pin, the little teeny pin that's inserted into the button shaft) into the shaft without marring the button...looked reasonable, almost perfectly flush with the shaft, so I reassembled without too much difficulty..no problem with letting the screw find its way back into its nest without stripping it...and now I have a "crunchy" button that STILL locks...I'm afraid I need to send her in Rob...damn!

remove the the added top button. Then remove the black firing pin housing and push it out from underneath then take the pin out. then reassemble and be careful to not over tighten the screw.

nerak, I believe you to be a wise man..lol..the little porkies were fun to see..once..but after this, I will leave those mysterious buggers alone!

I will just keep my locking button REO's intact! Don't mind that once in awhile I turn it to lock when firing.

Will not mess with that "black box". I can pretend little porkies are inside making my REO's work! LOL

oh crap, I knew that...my apologies oh wise woman...

should I PM Rob about sending in my mini, or how does that work?

Yes, you can do that first. To send it you will need to send your email address, contact info, and go ahead and tell him what YOU did to your REO! Just kidding ya! We all learn the hard way sometimes!

Nerak, what is your current REO count?..or is that confidential information? I know it's a lot...
