Hi all. Fairly new to vaping :vapor: and after doing a lot of research I think I may be getting a Reo mini next time they are available(funds & luck on order day permitting).

My question is, how different is the color of the Reo's in person as compared to the website?
I ask because I just got done looking through the Family Photo thread and some of the colors look different. Is this because of different anodizing or do the colors change depending on how they are cared for?

Sorry if this has been asked & answered already but I couldn't find anything in the threads I read.

TIA

The purple and golds seem to be the hardest to capture, in pictures, in terms of colors. In my avatar the Gold Grand, a buff finish (I think only one run of "buff"), is actually lighter than the picture. The Purpleheart Woody is much more purple than the picture is. Can't remember about the blue but I think is it actually lighter than the picture. The blue in my avatar is from the first batch of blues that Rob released. He is using a different anodizer company now so I don't know how close the newest ones are. I will know more, in a few days, as a new Blue/blue Grand is on its way here. No matter the color they are all beautiful and, as everyone will say, no picture can capture their true beauty.

Rob is working on "tumbled" finish. I have one PV that is tumbled aluminum. I absolutely love the finish. That PV, a Roughstack, not a feeder, actually comes in two different finishes, depending on what is used for the tumbling process; small rocks all the way to large sand and on down to fine sand and possibly other materials for the abrasion.

I'm putting a request in for a tumbled Mini sometime in next twelve hours. Just gotta have one of those. I think the anodized finishes, all the colors, including "silver", are probably going to be the toughest finish. The tumbled will be next but that finish can be scratched more so than the anodized. No matter what you get, if your Reo goes through a devastating accident, more than likely only the finish will be affected. You can always send it to Reo Spa for a face lift.

Thanks for all the responses. The colors that I personally like are the green and silver, and the black with red. In certain pictures the colors look very bright(??). Also, some pics the red looks almost orange(burnt siena from my crayola days) Which I actually really like!

I think I would prefer it to be a little more stealthy! Otherwise I may go with good old fashioned silver & black. Classy and goes with everything :2cool:

In any case, I will continue crunching my budget and waiting for the release! ...And stalking this forum of course

The last photo is about as accurate as you will get with the Green color. I'm comparing it to the one in my hand. Now how your monitor interprets that color....who knows? The reds have been like fire engine red or just slightly darker....but there is no mistaking them for any other color...they are red definitely red. :) I don't have a new model of red to show because I don't own one. My other reds are not accurate because they are 1st and 2nd generation so I won't bother posting them. You are welcome to browse through my profile albums....have a few pictures there. :)

This is that picture in color. That is a Brazilian Cherry body with Purple Heart Door (pretty sure, anyway) Rob...correct me if I'm wrong. :)

*edit...the Brazilian Cherry is the body that MX just got on the new Woodvil... So yes...those woods are still available as far as I know.

Displaying accurate colors on the web is difficult because there are so many variables involved. The original photo, to be accurate, should be color balanced by using a "digital grey card. Digital grey cards are colormetricly neutral under different light sources.
An eye dropper in software adobe etc.) is used to click on the grey card and this brings all the colors in the file to be accurate as long as the light falling on the grey card is the same as that falling on the subject.

Then you have other factors such as brightness and contrast etc in the original photo file that can affect your perception of color.

Then there's the variable factor that is the monitor that you are using. To get accurate colors these monitors should be calibrated with hardware calibration equipment. This adjusts the color, contrast and brightness of the monitor for accuracy.

Then on top of all this, most, not all, browsers use a color space called sRGB. This color space is limited so some colors will fall out of the sRBG space and will be interpreted to the nearest values that will make it "fit."

This is a simplified explanation of color capture and viewing on the web.
