I've been using a 454 big bock lately. Thinking of getting a second.

Running that on a vvg? Did you have rob do a mech conversion? I've been thinking about sending one of my vvgs to get the LP haircut, but I doubt 15 watts will be enough to run dual coils on the larger atties. I'm typically running duals in the 0.4 range on mechanicals. Might have to get a 510 Adapter and see how it feels.

I came across the "manual" I got with my REO the other day after vaping on it for 1 or 2 months. I read it... It shows an o-ring on the top deck and mine did not come with one:?: I do get a fair amount of leakage so it has to be from my missing o-ring. Do I just email "REO" or is there another place I can grab one.

I have a REO Grand LP. I will paypal for postage or a ring or 2 if anyone has any laying around.

Thank you-

U sure? I don't think Rob has updated the instructions in... a while. The manual makes reference to the "Rubber Insulator/Gasket" for the 510 center post - Eeek! if that one wasn't in there. But it doesn't show or mention anything about the extra o-ring used for a BFA. That one comes with the Reomizers. Or can be purchased on the site as replacements or for non Reomizer attys.

Hi all.....

I got a Rio Grand VV last week from a fellow ECF member and got a Reomizer RBA 2.0 additional bottles and O-rings from reosmods as well.
My standard build is normally 8 turn 28 gauge, which comes out at 1.2 Ohm. Works great in Kayfun and all my RDA's as well. Not here though, I had to add 2 turns - not the VV fires it just fine.

I had to fiddle with the built quite a bit until I got it working right. The Reomizer seems to be a bit less forgiving than other RDA's. In any case, I am still not where I am flavor wise compared to my Veritas, Magma or even IGO-L. I am still scratching my head as to why the flavor is muted on this one. Maybe a different RDA would do better?

One more question: The LP version of the Rio Grand (or the milled down VV) can take RDA's with a larger diameter - so far so good, but will the Reomizer 2 still work on it?

Is there an adapter out there to just raise the current 510 connection of the non LP version to get a flush surface mount for a larger atty?

Thank you.

Cheers.

The REO VV Grand will not fire with a coil with lower ohms. I usually run a 1.8-2.1 ohm coil on my VV.

You can get more of a range with the higher ohm coil. Dial it to where you like.

The flavor and vapor with a RM2 on the VV Grand is outstanding. You just have to find that sweet spot.

If you get a LP Grand you can still use the RM2. The bottom part of the atty will just show where it was shaved to fit the regular Grand and VV Grand.

With the LP you don't need an adapter to raise the connector. It is made to run the larger diameter RDA's. The LP means the drip well is ground down that way the larger RDA's will fit and work.

RTD does sell a 510 to 510 hollow adapter. However this greatly increases the likelihood of over tightening the 510 and damaging the insulator in the Reo. It also increase the chance of shorting and increase the stress and possible damage when the Reo is dropped. So if you use one be fore warned.

@ nerak & Filthy-Beast.

Thank you. I never said to use an adapter on the LP - makes no sense....
Regarding a 510-510 adapter - sure enough that will come out too high, but maybe just maybe somebody made a flush adapter. That approach sounds easier to me than milling the VV down.

I wish I had milling equipment to fool around with the idea....

Cheers.

No mech conversion on that. I actually prefer a regulated vape. I did test it out with a 510 adapter and when I decided it wasn't bad I sent it in to have Rob make it a LP. So the Vvg in one hand and a mech reo grand in the other. If you build it right there's not a huge difference in my opinion.

Cool. Care to share how you are coiling that?

Nothing special. Todd just posted his review of the 454...I've got mine coiled the same way with a few extra wraps so I can get the ohms up since it's sitting on the VVReo. If you still want I can't try to snap a pic next time I rebuild. May be a few days though, got it tuned in at the moment.

Thats an original and interesting idea, a flush adapter for a regular Grand. I have not heard of one being made as yet.

If you are good with tools, a Reo can be be milled down with a belt sander and carefully finished off with a file. Take it steady and screw an atty into it from time to time to check how much more material needs to be taken off.

For those thinking about giving the 454 a try but are on a budget, Vapor Joe's blog listed an eBay pre-sale for a clone, $24. Not sure if the eBay link will work here, I know ECF mangles Vapor Joe's links. If you need just Google to get to the blog and follow to eBay from there.

Is the center pin of the atty 510 connector protruding far enough? It needs to measure at least 0.170" from tip of centre pin to base of atty, otherwise it might not reach down far enough into the mod to make a connection.

The way the bottom of the 454 is, it's cupped so the length of the 510 is a C hair too short I'm guessing. I don't want to hoople my brand new Reo trying to torque this 454 on.

I've been looking at the 454...looks pretty straight forward, maybe buy a clone if infinity or ehpro picks it up (not a big fan of Tobeco). One thing I've done before if the pin is a little shy...grab a piece of thin plastic sheet (clear, blister pack plastic works good, tough as nails)...tap the pin out, drill a hole in the plastic that the pin will just go through and tap the pin/plastic back in, then trim the plastic around the 510 so it's just within the threads (basically making a tiny hard plastic washer)...you can usually get yourself .5mm with zero adverse effects to the RDA.
