In anticipation of getting home today and playing with my first reo, I've been trying to figure something out. If I say something incorrect at any time, please correct me.
I've heard bits and pieces here and there about how the REO Grand now has some issues with "sub-ohm" vaping. From what I've gathered it's an issue with proper battery contact with the positive pin. This problem can exist and is amplified by the currect sub-ohm coils draw. Now I know that the spring in the reo grand fails when bad things start to happen, are there any specs available for the spring and the reo grand in general that have information about amp limits and such? Provided I get good contact (I will be using AW IMRS) I'm curious as to what I can push this little box to do.

I've done .6 without a problem, but like the vape from .8 to 1.1. A Reo+RM2 seems to hit harder than other PVs at the same ohm. A good AW IMR 1600mah or 2000mah has at least 10amp rating even at .6 ohms you're pulling less than 7amps from the battery. what you will notice is the voltage drop as the battery charge drains. Just change batteries before the voltage drops too much, I change 3/4 of the way through the day. The spring acts like a fuse and will collapse if you have a short, I have 2 spares just in case.

The REO doesn't have issues with sub ohm, it does sub ohm up to roughly 8.5 amps with its current spring. The issue that was spread was its voltage drop. True, it is higher than other mechs (nule as the new upcoming sub ohm kit will put the REO on the top mechs regarding vDrop, 0.35V drop on a 0.39 ohm coil :D) Regardless it does punch harder with the RM2 on it. For that hard punch I'd recommend the AW IMR 1600 mAh as opposed to the 2000 mAh.

Once the sub ohm kit is out, you can push it anywhere you want literally.

I was aware of the upgrade kit thanks to super_x_drifter and it is definitely on my purchase list, whenever Rob has time to finish and start selling it :p.
"up to roughly 8.5 amps with its current spring"
This is what I was looking for, thank you.

My favorite thing about mech mods is the ability to fire literally whatever I want. Which is why I love my Titan so much.

I was never a fan of hot to warm vapes, I like my vape cool and smooth with a little tiny bit of throat hit. This is why I hardly ever go sub-ohm, only when I'm doing some coil tinkering/cloud chasing. oh and if you haven't already, pick up a bottle of Noalox to keep those contacts firing fresh.

I don't like a really warm vape, but I want a lot of vapor and in order to get the watts per coil I want without a regulated device sub-ohm is a must.

well if your cloud chasing I would def go sub ohm. I have tried cloud chasing and it just ain't my bag, kills my throat. I don't know how you guys do it.

If I don't regularly drink water my throat dries up. I love those giant lung hits though, so I keep bottles of water everywhere.

countdown to the kit!

i have been a Reo fan since the first metal Reo's came out which was about the time i started getting serious about vaping...

kind of lost interest when RBA's came out and have a slew of good mechs...

When the RM2 popped up, the ReoGrand has again become a must have... especially for on the road.

I like .6 Ohms micro coil with cotton ball wick...

* i found you have to file the pos pin every month or two and change out the spring every few months.
Once the performance starts getting spotty, misfires too, time for maintenance.

With the kit, Rob will be installing them on new Reo's too... I want at least 2 Grands as I have 3 b/f RBA's I can use; the RM2, vicious ant's Cyclone, and a Micro Gen (from Jasl90) all sub Ohms.

Never use a sub ohms coil without metering it gang.
