Hi there! I don't mean to start a holy war, just looking for some information before I buy my second bottom feeder.

Already have a VMod, and I'm relatively happy with it, but need a second mod (well, want more than need).

So here are a few questions to people that hopefully own, or have used both:

1. What's the size difference between VMod XL and Grand?
2. Both are kickable, right?
3. Vmod is pretty comfortable in the hand, with all those round corners and all. How's Grand?
4. The button doesn't seem to fire by itself in my pocket, even without locking it. How does it do in Grand?

Thank you for any information!

I won a VMod XL in a contest more than a year after having bought a Reo Grand. I used my Reo Grand daily the whole time. I fiddled with the VMod a bit and then gave it to a buddy who I'm prodding to take up vaping and cut back on his smoking.

If a VMod works to keep you off cigs, then I'd say it's a fine device. My personal preferences favor the Grand, though.

Oh yeah, you had questions.

1. Very close in size.
2. The Grand is far easier to Kick than the VMod, IMO.
3. The current Grands have rounded edges too.
4. Button placement on the Grand is similar to the VMod.

I have come to this thread a few times and read your questions and the replies.

I held a v-mod at a vapemeet. It did feel alright in my hand.

But to me feel is more than just rounded corners. The weight of the REO tells me that it is built for more than feel. It is tough. The whole body is one piece of aluminum.

I don't treat my REO's rough. I have a cover for the metal ones I take out. That is just me, I don't want them scratched up.

I know though that the REO can take a lot of abuse. I have read of them dropped in water, falling from a moving motorcycle, and even thrown down stairs! Just a few dings to show for it.

The REO can be washed under running water. Let it dry and it is good to go.

I think you owe it to yourself to give the REO a try.

Only you can decide how REO features compare to your v-mod once in your hand.

As a Reo owner of three different types, i can assure you that you won't be disappointed . I started with one Reo mini back in April, I now have 2 V V grands, one woodvil and one Mini 2.0. I also have a couple of eGo twists, but they're seldom used...mostly as a back-up for out n about, or to have people try that are interested in quitting smoking.

Welcome!

Previously owned a vmod 2.0. Other than the increased weight, I believe the reo is a better mod. I have no fear of it breaking (read: cracking plastic casing for the vmod) if I were to drop it from any height. If I were to drop it a few floors down out the window, I'd be more concerned for any object/person it happened to hit on the way down. The button on/off is much more solid feeling.

The Vmod XL or 2.0 (smaller) is different.
It's cheaper and you get what you pay for. Plastic parts are well, plastic. With care they hold up but have had some QC problems with cracks at stress points.
It has a unique connector design with a chamber, collar, cone.
Although it is touted to prevent leaks, in my experience the XL auto feeds when tilted anyway.
The chamber tends to be tight and i find that some atomizers which have no problem on the Reo open drip/well connector will have a tight draw in the XL. This can be fixed by fooling with the various factors.

The Reo is an institution in vaping and always will be. It lasts forever, it's simple, straight up functional and set up right it cannot be beat. Bottom feeding is here to stay and imo there is no better b/f than a Reo.
If anyone has a problem with a Reo, its either the batt, atomizer, or juice... the Reo is perfect.

DH and I have been using REOs for over two years. Before that I did have two plastic box mods that sustained minor damage, cracking, just from short, minor, drops. (one the wiring actually came unsoldered) Like Nerak, I do like to keep the finish as pristine as possible on my REOs but even with the most careful use drops, short and long, slings, and other "abuse" does happen. Virtually all of my REOs have repeatedly gone "swimming," in water other than REO soapy wash water, except for the VVs. But one did, into greasy, dirty, cool, dish water, and after a good alcohol soak, and days of drying it is still performing perfectly.

I have read most, or all, of the stories posted about "REO abuse," on ECF, since they were introduced. If someone was collecting statistics I will strongly venture to say that there are few box mods that can withstand what some REOs have withstood and still keep on vaping despite how they look.

REOs are "battle tanks" and they are beautiful. I call them many things but main analogy is from my experience with a flawless Porche that was never in the shop except for maintenance. (REO cost a whole lot less to purchase and maintain, though.) Most importantly is that Robert, REO, can make virtually any damaged or marred REO perform as new and we can totally count on him to take care of us and our REOs. Just like an old Mercedes car that goes on and on, with reasonable care, for decades, I like to call REOs "The Mercedes of Box Mods," too.
