Ok, so maybe "tragedy" is a little extreme. I have been loving my Grand for months, and it goes everywhere with me. The other day, I was driving a large 15 passenger van, vaping away, and decided to put the Grand between my legs to rest. Well, apparently I forgot about it, and when I exited the van, the Grand dropped 4 feet on to the concrete. I heard the sound and cringed in horror. Luckily, it was still operational, as Rob builds these things like tanks, but it was left with a jagged war wound from the fall.

I was looking for advice as to what I can do to repair this myself...

You only cry on the first scratch/dent. It's the first step in making it truly yours and it will eventually be covered with character marks. Used Reo looks used. Time and use takes it's toll. Same with pocket knives, watches, clothing, cars, girlfriends, etc.

Sandpaper to smooth it out if it is sharp and maybe some Alumablack for the color. It is a gun finish touch up product so check Brownells for it.

I was in shock when my mini slid right out of my had and onto concrete, the wound looks almost like the one on your grande, it has since feel a second time but not as bad, I think it adds character and makes it look even more unique. (not that I really want to add any more damage but its gonna happen, at least they are much more rugged than my old egos)

Look at that Reo wound with pride, and know that had it been 99% of the other mods out there, it would have been much worse. When I first strated vaping I dropped a 24hr old ego bat with a carto on it, and it was not operational after that, and that was on a wood floor :( I have dropped my Grand on the wood floor.....yikes put a good dent in the floor, left the Grand unscathed! Ego 0....Reo 1 ..

agreed, same here. first time is always a bummer, but I've stopped caring. I love my REO the way it is, a few dents in the corner don't kill it for me.
Me too....my green mini has a mean dent on the same corner from a 3' fall onto an exposed aggregate sidewalk. It's taken me a while to get over...but I'm over it.

Sorry. I know it hurts especially first time. We've been fortunate to have only small dings and scratches that aren't too obvious. DH did leave his early Black Mini in a rental car. He kept calling but it hadn't turned up for days. When he checked in the next week, where he rents a car every week, they had it at the counter. I got him a dinged re-homed silver to carry out of town. (Thanks Karen.) He took my gold Mini out of town last week. I felt really uneasy. Last night I gave him back his Silver. When he was leaving this morning I told him I felt better about his carrying his silver because of what happened with the Black. His comment was, "That won't happen again!" Hope not.

And

This is why I recommend the Silver Anodized for people who do use their REOs in rough conditions. The dings, gouges, scratches hardly show as the Silver anodization is the same color as the tumbled bare REO. And a plus is that every carto/atty and DT looks great with the Silver.

I think the black touch up stuff for guns sounds great. I'm going to check that out. I picked up an early Polished Black Mini, on classies, that has a few "all the way to bare" small dings on or near door. If the shiny black model paint doesn't work out I might have to try the gun touch up. I got small bottles of the model paint in other colors to try to do almost microscopic touch ups on other REOs. The key to filling, just like with cars is to let the pain just flow into the scratch/gouge and not come up over the edge of mar.

Serenitygear leather. Just got mine in today. I have spent many hundreds over the years on gun holsters and belts. Some were works of art and supremely functional, some were duds. The serenitygear mini neck lanyard is very high quality and for the price it is a complete and total bargain. I would buy one at the current price for every mod I have with no reservations. Cheap insurance, they look good, and if it's a lanyard around your neck it won't hit the concrete.

I got a new-to-me truck a few months ago. Great deal - perfect condition (not a scratch, dent, ding, or nick - old enough I can work on it - one of the best 4wd systems ever put in a light truck - beautiful - my favorite truck ever) a couple of months ago, I tagged one of the bed rails with a forklift. -- I thought, "Well, that makes it mine". Getting off the forklift, I dropped my new REO mini and put a little ding in it... what I thought can't be repeated on ECF without being censored or attracting unwanted attention from a moderator.
