My first REO (a Mini) is only 7 days old and I remember looking at the stock air hole on the RM2 and saying to self, self that just wont cut it. /lol Fortunately the clan/tribe has a few tricks up their sleeve for proper coil placement and most important of all how to get the bloody air hole sitting directly in front of the coil via another oring between the base and the cap. Finally, I chase flavor so a narrow bore drip tip and a few test builds and I'm very happy with the stock air hole. Everyone is different so you can ignore what I just said if you are so inclined.

:)

Yeah I will be testing a whole lot before drilling. I drilled my Nimbus atomizer cap too large when I first got it and had to buy a new top cap, luckily that was only like $8. I'm not sure there are RM2 top caps available anywhere. I could just see having to shell out another $50 because I got overzealous with the drill. Thanks for the tip.

The stock air hole is 3/64" and many of us do drill them; very easy to do the cap is brass. There is a RM2 for the LP which is an unmilled version. The cap on the chrome RM2 is easily sanded to brass in a few minutes.

unmilled version? Do not know what that means.

I understand sanding chrome down to the brass underneath, I've done it on a couple of "gold chrome" parts of a few mods, but it never looks as good as the one that is brass in the first place.

Unmilled RM2 refers to the height of the RM2, it will not fit a standard grand. But if you have a LP grand you need to get the accompanying LP RM2 (which is unmilled) you can get them in both chrome and brass from rob, but all rob is doing is stripping the chrome off, there is no factory brass option.

ps. Rob's modified RM2's are originally the triangle. When these come back into stock its usually not a bad idea to pick up 2 of them for spare caps, posts, post screws, ceramic ect for 10 bucks..

Everyone seems really happy with the RM2, Though I'm wondering if anyone drills out the airholes? Those stock holes look tiny.

Can I still use the brass RM2 with the LP version? It would be nice to have the option of a different atomizer in the future, but not if I can't get the brass RM2.
Some people drill out the air hole and some do not. For the LP Reo the Rm2 that looks best is the LP Rm2. It hasn't been milled down. THe milled RM2, called the RM2, will work fine on the LP Reo but would just look strange.
Grand and RM2...looks good, works
LP Grand and RM2...looks funky, works
Grand and LP RM2...doesn't work
LP Grand and LP RM2....looks good, works
LP Grand works with any bottom fed rba
Grand works with smalled diameter RBAs and cartos and attys
all Reos have 510 connections other than very rare beasts from very early times.

Something else you might want to consider. If you get the Copper Vein and the Silver Vein door you might want to shoot them with clear coat. Vein colored mods will darken over time because of oxidation. Clear coat will stop this from happening. No one has found a way to stop or reverse this. I am looking though. Mine is getting darker by the day.

Yes I think I'm going to. I've had a couple people mention this already. I'll hit it with a few coats of automotive clear coat and it should stay nice and shiny. Thank you for the warning. Same with the people that PM'ed me. Thanks.

I pm'ed Rob with a request for the LP version of both the Grand and the RM2. I don't know if I'll ever switch to a different atomizer, but for a $10 price difference I wouldn't mind the option. I love the look of Vicious Ant's Cyclone, but the bottom fed version seems impossible to find and from what I've read the few that have them actually like their RM2s better.

Both are LP Reos

The left one has a standard, milled RM2. The right one has the LP, unmilled RM2 installed.

They are easy to sand to brass, but if you don't want to bother send a PM to Rob, he'll do for a small fee, before shipping.

I only like small mods. Before the Reos I used a mini Provari (never with extension). I tried an MVP and sent it back because it was too cumbersome.

I started with an original mini (lovely and small), then got a mini 2.1 - loved it, but I always had to carry batteries and spare bottles. I was very reluctant to get the grand because I was worried it would be too big. Should never have worried - I absolutely LOVE it! The battery lasts almost all day, and the bottle size is fabulous! I have small hands, and it doesn't seem too big at all. I still use all my Reos, but when I'm going to be out of the house for any length of time I take the Grand.

I had the opposite experience. I too love small mods. The Reo Mini 2.1 is good for me size wise, and it takes AW IMR 18490s which are just as capable of handling my sub ohm builds as my larger batteries... The Grand was just too big for me. I would rather carry an extra battery than a big mod. Just get yourself one of those little plastic battery cases, pop two batts in and slide in your purse. Done.
