Are there any issues with off-gassing with Nichrome? If not, what are the advantages over Kanthal?

I've not read anything to support the off-gassing and the advantage is faster heating and cooling taking away the "bake on" period and keeping the coils clean longer.

Nichrome is like one gauge lower of kanthal in a nutshell. So it heats faster.

But some people can taste it and have a nickel allergy (like jewellery etc) and those guys had better stick to kanthal.

T

Can't say I want to be breathing nickel. But what am I breathing with Kanthal?......

I have that nickel allergy in jewelry but so far so good with the Nichrome. If my throat swells shut I'll be sure to let you guy know. :)

It's a crap shoot and I'm not sure why I had to try it but I did.

Well - i see this kind of thing comes up a lot on here - is cotton or RxW dangerous and so on?

Dunno. All those custards with diketones in them?

But since i smoked 40 reds a day for 30 years, it's a bit late to cry and whine about a bit of cotton now isn't it?
If you compare the wire we use with it's melting point, and compare that with the vapourisation point of any e-liquid component - it seems like a safe bet to me.

Safer than smoking, but not safer than breathing pure alpine air.

i don't think anyone has that reaction to it Tami, but some complain they can 'taste' it and the metallic taste spoils the enjoyment of their juice.

Certainly nothing you need to carry an Epipen for!

I have to agree with your last statement. Just curious if anyone knew, as you did about the nickel.

 excellent news, not that I was overly concerned. Like you said, if what we were doing didn't kill us, we're good! I am surprised though because I can taste the mesh, silica, rayon and ReadyX but not these coils. I'll give it a week to see if it stays good though.

Good evening Reoville!

I made some peanut brittle this afternoon...I believe I'm going to have to cut WAY down on the batches I've been making for a lot of years to give away, this first batch ( and maybe last) had my ole back giving me fits.:(

STILL no snow here in Mi.!

Been babysitting my GD's doggie for a few days, she's the smartest most facially expressive dog I've ever seen...earlier I hollered at her and she put back her ears and I swear looked so sad...made me feel bad. I tried to pet and make up but she kept her head straight ahead and wouldn't look at me, just cocked her eyes my way to make sure I realized that she was offended with me.I think that was her punishment:D

We're good now...amazing what a treat can do....
