I saw him back in about 1972. His warm-up band was a bunch of guys nobody had ever hear of before--Doctor Hook and His Medicine Show. They were booed heavily--probably because Joe Cocker was late getting to the venue and everything started late. Cocker put on a great show when he finally arrived. (I heard later on that Doctor Hook and Co. eventually made it to the cover of the Rolling Stone

Dr. Hook is an acquired taste...
Tho anyone who doesn't love Joe Cocker should have their ears checked.
