jup.......that's why I was asking before going that route to see if that was the issue or if it was something else. It doesn't happen often, but once in awhile it feels like it's sorta hanging up on something when I mash the button. Might just need a good cleaning. lol someone else mentioned that theirs actually got stuck and was firing.

Say, for those using Clapton wire, how do you sort the wraps, etc in the Steam Machine? Or is there another trick. Am thinking about trying some but I'm all about safety first.

One ignores the outside wrap, so if i were to wrap 26g with 32g then the resistance would be the same as if i had just used the 26g, so that makes it easy to calculate.

I notice every time a Reo goes up for sale in the classified section, everyone asks if it has the updated 510. I have two Reo's without the updated 510, and I have never had any atomizer not work on it. On top of that, every atomizer has sat down flush.

My Reo that has the updated 510 has problems with several atomizers that will not sit flush. Even with the 510 adjustment screwed all the way in, the attys will not sit flush.

My question is this. What is the big huge deal everyone makes about the updated 510? I consider it almost a non issue. What am I missing here?

Not really a big deal but the newer 510 is just built more durable and has less voltage drop. The old 510 was too easy to crush the gasket inside and cause a short. This was the main reason Rob changed the design. On both of my grands I have no problems with my atty's sitting flush. In fact, if I screw in the central screw all the way, my atty's won't even make contact. When I had my Woodvil it was a different story. Rob intentionally set those 510's higher so as the hooples wouldn't leave atty rash on their devices. I actually sold mine because of this... I hope this kinda helps you out.

It's also nice to be able to put your airholes exactly where you want them without having to use O rings to get em kinda where you want them

^^Great info right there... I have found that I still like using an o-ring, (even with the 510 being adjustable), only to get that extra little resistance against the atty to keep it from backing off the device. I have found this to be a problem sometimes when not using an o-ring.

I also like to use an o ring on some attys, particularly a couple I have with slotted center pins. The o rings prevent drippage coming up from the 510.

Some of the RMs seem to have long 510s. I'm not sure why. I don't have an RM2, but I do have a couple RM4s. They don't come close to flush either. I just use an o ring under them.

I wasn't aware there was a difference in button throw between the old and new 510's. Can you post a pic of the new vs the old as to the position of where the pins are in comparison or is it the difference between the new firing pin vs the old one that makes the difference... I know the curl of the new firing pin is lower profile than the old bent firing pin. Couple in the filing of the old pin over time makes a difference also...

A flat top battery seems to increase the distance slightly.

I don't know how to post photos in the forums, sincerely sorry about that. The button sits much higher on the newer models, and the throw is longer. I have read other Reonauts comment about the same thing too. Someone must know what I am talking about I hope.

I didn't know there was a difference in button throw between the older 510 and the new. Unfortunately, I don't have an older one to compare. I had my 4 grands all converted to the newer one last year. I do know that the throw is longer when using flat top batteries. I didn't like it; so I use either button top AWs, or when I do use flat tops, I put a door magnet on the top of the battery.

yeah I do use an oring as well to stop any leakage......but at least we don't have to rely just on an oring for positioning. Love it.

Doesn't anyone else notice how much higher the button sits? I have seen plenty of people comment about it here.

What does Rob charge now for the whole 510 update and rebuild deal now? I am curious. I would send mine in for the update, even though I don't care about the 510, I just want the longer throw.

Also, that longer metal nipple extension to the rubber feed tube really secures the feed tube much better. The only thing I have noticed is that it does not give you as much room to screw on the bottles when re-filling. Maybe it's just me, I have big hands.
