been talking about it for a while, the talking is over! just received a reo grand and I couldn't be happier, love it. I have it set-up with a micro coil using 29g @ .9Ω with cotton. I do love the vapor production, TH is perfect, and it hits hard. I do have to admit the flavor is not quite as good as with my porous ceramic wicks in my genesis devices, although it just may be that im just not used to the taste of the cotton yet. has anyone tried using porous ceramic in the reomizer atty? thanks

I tried the porous running sideways in a RM2 and it was a disaster, impossible to keep wet = 1 squonk, one vape.

Pdib tried a genesis type wick in one stuffed in the juice hole of the RM2, but never said if it worked.

I run my coils at as close to 1 Ohm as possible and it's brilliant. But i am using duals on (the same) silica wick.

I had purchased an item with one of those porous ceramic wicks -- I HATED IT. The darn thing snapped in half; the replacement did the same. I threw the item in the drawer and that's where it remains. An expensive mistake.

Congrats and welcome! I set mine up the same way. What cotton are you using? I used to use cotton yarn and didn't like the flavor. Switched to sterile rolled cotton (found at CVS) as was suggested by s_X_d and it made a huge difference in flavor. Show us your Grand when you get a chance.:)

Yes debz - it's rather fragile! LOL!
But the point of it is 'better flavour than SS and dry burnable.' I cut mine to fit the RM2, but unless it wicks all the time, in which case it'd have to go from atomiser to bottle in a Reo in the same way it does in tanks, then it's indeed a costly waste of money.

I never got one to work without dry hits on a Reo but that really has more to do with the type of device it is rather than inherent failures of the concept or material. It is perfectly possible to make a "Clyde" ss wick for an RM2, but i find the TH harsh, even if i 'hybrid' it and wrap the SS around silica or cotton first.

My 3 inches of porous cost me $20 - but my wife tells me she pays more for an inch than that!

You know, Vap, seeing as how you're all attached to porous ceramic 'n all, I was thinking . . . .hmmmmmmm.

The RM2 has a bowl shaped bottom, a vertical stone wick could sit close-ish to center, and if (when you squonk) you tilt the atty a bit so the drain is up-ish, then than juice settles around the base of the wick . . ... naw, wouldn't work.

Anyway, I'm real happy that the REO is up to snuff for you! :)

Not sure but I want to say it might be the juice too? The flavor of my ADV is really muted when I use it with cotton. At first I thought the cotton was too tight, I tried looser, different size coils, different resistance but that distinct flavor that I liked was just not there. Went back to Ekowool & bam, smiling again. This is the only juice that is like that though. With my other flavors this doesn't happen & with most the flavor is much cleaner.

Plus I tried to use cotton in my daily use Reo & I sometimes find myself singing cotton unexpectedly even when I have the concious of trying not to. But at home I rarely ever singe cotton. So I continue to use Ekowool only in my EDC Reo.

BTW congrats!

thanks for all the replys guys, sorry I haven't got back to check the post. anyways I do believe it was the juice, I have this cov butterscotch and it is just a picky juice. even in my gennys I had flavor issues sometimes. anyways I have now used my 2 other flavors in the reomizer and both taste awesome with the cotton, couldn't be happier! I also tried some german silica in the rm2, thinking it might last a little longer so I wouldn't have to change it as much, no go, the flavor was nothing like the cotton. its cotton for me until something better comes out. before buying my blk wrinkle reo grand I had purchased a kayfun lite the day before and now have that set up with cotton as well which is also performing awesome. although I love the reo I still like to use a tube mod with a nice atomizer, but I do find myself liking the reo more and more each day. I do think that the flavor of porous ceramic in a genesis device does have a slight edge in flavor imo, but what I think makes up for it in a cotton wick is the quickness of the vape. with a ceramic wick the heat sink kind of was a hassle, you always had to take a primer vape before the real vape, with micro coils & cotton the vape is instant. all & all I do like this set up better, thanks to all who have posted on these set ups, making it known to me.

Have you tried Nextel? I haven't had luck with cotton and Boba's, the cotton seems to filter out the solids and what juice gets to the coil isn't the juice I'm hooked on. I use the 1/32" kiln treated Nextel from bigtexvapor. Is kinda pricey but it works really good, lasts a long time, can be dry burned and only a little bit is used per setup. Oh yea, it'll fit into a micro coil wrapped on a 1/16" bit. What other juices do you vape besides the butterscotch?

I think you maybe on to something. As I mentioned in my previous post my ADV just doesn't have that flavor I like also using cotton. With Ekowool it taste awesome but my coil & wick gunks up faster than my other clearer juices. So you might be right, maybe the cotton is too fine & filters out flavorings with thicker molecules.

Again, I use Ekowool with my all day vape. I leave one end of the wick short & the other end pretty long. I do agree that long wicks really don't benefit anything. My reason for a longer wick is different. When it starts getting gunked to where I can notice a drop in vapor, I dry burn to clean the coil. But dry burning doesn't fully clean the wick & it's the gunked up wick that causes the drop in vapor. I pull the wick from the short end to have enough slack away from the atty & torch it, then I pull it back into the coil. Vapes like new.

The next time it gets gunked up, I dry burn the coil again. And again I pull the wick from the short end but this time I would cut off the gunked portion that was already torched once. Pull back through the coil & I'm happy again. This method lasts me a while before I have to rebuild again. In fact since I started doing this I haven't had to rebuild in a while.
