Okay, so because I am from New Orleans I decided for fun to grab a purple battery from V4L. I knew that a purple battery would not be the most manly thing but so what. It's my battery. I was expecting a red, green or maybe blue led for the tip. I however did not expect a pink led. I can be many with a purple cig, but pink led kind of pushes it.

Does anybody know of a way to swap out the LED in the vapor king style of shorty battery?

maybe somebody can trade you batteries... once you get over 15 posts you will be able to go to other areas in the forum. VL4 has their own section here, so once you are able to post, you should go there and see if anyone would be willing to make a trade or even post it in the classifieds. Those LED's are tiny, and unless you have really good soldering skills, you would be better off finding another alternative, or simply getting another battery. Have you contacted VL4 to see if they will work with you? That might be another good option to try.

I don't know if you know this, but you can request the LED color. I think each battery comes with two different color LED's. I read this in the V4L section somewhere.

I can see that Who-dat! Hehe another good idea. Currently my black battery only comes close with the yellow tobacco carts. However I am sure I can get some gold cartos.

I will try V4L, but if that's how the led comes might not be much they can do about it. There are other companies out there and the batteries work fine. I just will keep these as my at home batteries since I don't like to be tethered to my computer with power cigs.

I've done this many times, UV (ultraviolet) LEDs are my favorite!

1. Remove end cap (ash)

2. Gently pull up the little round PCB (printed circuit board) so it is just out of the battery tube.

3. Using a soldering iron, remove both the positive and negative wires from the PCB.

Note: all the PCB does is transfer the current from the wires to the surface mount (too tiny) LED.

4. Grab the LED of your choice (preferably 3mm diameter, 5mm ones are hard to fit in the battery tube).

5. Cut the leads down to 2mm each.

6. Bend the leads outward.

7. Using a Dremel with a grinding wheel, sand down the "lens" of the LED, but dont grind into the chip inside.

8. Solder ONE lead to one wire and test the polarity by touching the other lead to the other wire, puff on battery.

9. Once you have to polarity right, solder the other lead to the other wire.

10. stuff the whole thing back into the battery tube, careful that the leads DON'T touch the battery tube.

11. Replace the end cap, vape, and start a technicolor light party!

It may sound complicated, but you asked how it was done! :)

Happy Vaping All
