Research before buying

I may be a new member but not new to vaping. Yet it seems that because I don't have a house full of different makes and models then I'm treated as an idiot.

After 27 years in the military I learned how to research problems and equipment before submitting a bid proposal.

That also applies to anyone who is looking into buying an E cigarette. Research is key to not wasting hard earned money. Just don't go out and buy because ONE person said such and such was great.

I spent months researching before I bought my Provari with a Nautilus Aspire clearomizer tank. It works great for me and I spent approximately $300 for that setup. Now I don't need to go buy several other models spending hundreds of dollars more than what I did after careful research. I don't need every other person here telling me I should have gone with this or that unless I asked specifically that question. Which I did when I first joined this forum.

So yes I spent a lot to begin with but it's already paid for itself and I'm not in the product review business so I don't need nor want to buy something that I don't need.

Yes. One day someone's company will come out with a better setup than what I have. But its not like a car I'm making payments on. I'll get a better model when this one falls apart from age. That newer model will be well researched again before I purchase.

I don't need multiple tanks for different flavors. I like three flavors and all I have to do is cleaned the tank components with alcohol and in less than five minutes I'm vaping a new flavor.

All I ask us not to make others feel like they're idiots when you yourself may not be as smart as you think.

I'm very new here and so cannot comment upon any of your responses in general but I can say from my personal experience that everyone here has been helpful and welcoming and I am yet to see a reply that in any way treats a poster as an 'idiot'.

I hope you stick around and let us know how the provari works out for you (I am jealous, I haven't even received my just-ordered kanger EVOD yet but I already want a purple provari mini ..lol).

First of all, who is name calling you just because you are happy with the one mod you own? I don't care what you vape. For many, this is just way to stay off cigarettes. For them one (or two) devices and a couple of tanks are all they need. Why WOULD they buy more?

For others it is more of a hobby. I can't imagine anyone thinking someone is an idiot because they don't enjoy the same hobbies.

Second of all, you posted on 3/28/2014 that you had been vaping for a month. So, are you new to vaping or not? I'm not trying to start anything, but your original post sounds disingenuous.

I probably researched (read the forum) for about a year before I actually joined. The more I read the more confused I got.

Once I posted, explained a bit about myself - how long I smoked, how much I was willing to spend, etc. I got great advice- purchased what was recommended and the rest is history. I didn't want to spend a lot, frankly never thought I'd stick with it.

My only regret? That I didn't start sooner!! I don't feel I've wasted money on hardware. Liquid, that's another story.

how on earth did you spend months researching 1 device?

When I started vaping there were no B & M's, or very few and none in my area. There wasn't a lot of information about vaping out there. I frankly had never even seen anyone vape. So yea, I spent a great deal of time researching. Probably too much.

I think a lot of us went thru buying various setups before really settling on one that we really like. Once one reaches that instant gratification there is no more need of wondering what else is out there that one wants.

I own 2 Provari's and those are my use of choice....others have their own setups and enjoy them just as much.....to each his/her own.

Happy Vaping!!!

I came here several times over a couple of years and looked around. I was so intimidated by all the terminology I couldn't make any sense of anything. So, I guess I tried to do some research. It wasn't until I stopped into a B&M one day on a whim that I finally pulled the trigger. They recommended a couple of ego batteries and a couple of CE5 clearo's. Looking back, it might not have been an ideal setup, but it got me off cigarettes and it got me interested in vaping. I joined ECF soon after, and finally, some of the stuff I read here started making sense to me. Sometimes you just have to dive in and go from there.

I really like this forum. I've been doing this for going on a month now. I am a member of numerous forums on different subjects. It is not uncommon to see some folks telling other folks their stuff is junk. I personally hate when I see that happen but I have never seen it happen on this forum yet. No flaming, no stalking, no foul language. It is so nice learning and not haveing folks belittle you or make you feel inferior.

This is the key here. You can research all you want, but it comes down to actually using the device and for some time. Sure, you can get the basics with research but it comes down to using it and seeing if you like it.

I've only bought one thing I didn't like, but I still use my EVODs (portability), MVP (long time away from home), and Provari (for my beefy stuff). If someone gave you grief for having just one device just ignore them. They are just being a jerk which is not the norm here.

I did research! I came here and asked questions, because it JUST HAD TO BE a cigalike, but I wanted to a) choose my own flavor(s), and b) recharge it, which the disposable cigalikes don't offer, and they suck because of it.

I got an eRoll. It worked. I quit smoking. Then I got an iTaste vv3. It's lots better, and it's still easy enough for a newbie to figure out, though the same can't be said of those stupid tanks and their stupid coils.

Nobody here ever made me feel like an idiot -- I felt like one simply because I didn't yet know "vapespeak" and there are still a few terms I don't understand at all, but I figure if the time comes that I need to know, I'll ask, and someone here will tell me. Probably lots of someones with vastly different levels of experience and expectations, and that's great, because it lets me sift thru a huge amount of info to arrive at a wise purchasing choice.

wasn't aware there were people trying to make you feel stupid. that is not and never will be the point of the ECF. i would refer a particular post to a moderator. hopefully this forum will never degenerate to that level of behavior .

hang in there with your vaping! we are all about saving lives and improving the quality of everyone's life who smokes or did..peace <*}}}>{
