Hello E-Cig friends--
Just ordered my very first E-cig as a Mother’s day gift to myself. Deciding which one to buy was a fairly easy process. 1st decision I made was if I wanted a 2 piece or 3 piece. I opted for the 2 piece. 2nd decision was what vendor to choose. I opted for the closest vendor to my local in order to cut shipping cost and time. 3rd decision was if I wanted to refill or not. I opted to buy prefilled, blank cartos and juice. Decided I would try a combo of both. I’m sure I have oversimplified everything, but I’m a n00b and I’m sure I will learn as a go.
Now here’s my problem: The very idea of giving up analogs has sent me in a panic. You know that feeling you get when you’re down to your last 2 analog cigarettes in the pack and run to the store at 3am to buy more. I feel like Gullem in Lord of the Rings “We wants it, we needs it. Must have the precious.” To counter act this stressful feeling I’ve been chain smoking and needless to say this has left me very light headed. Also it doesn’t help reading and watching peoples flavor reviews: “Mmmmm look at that thick plume of smoke and boy does that flavor sound yummy. Hey, I think I’ll have an analog and help this reviewer celebrate his/her find.”
Guess I’m looking for reassurance that everything will be OK.

between here and there
Hi and welcome......
lots of good info in the stickies at top of page...everyone is different and gets off analogs(cigs) at their own pace...Me, I made the switch as soon as I smoked my last analog that I had in my possession and picked up the ecig....never looked back.
here is a really good read

Admittedly I have only been at this since yesterday, but over the past 30 hours or so I haven't even wanted an analogue, and I still have a good half a pack sitting right next to me (my shipment came early :D)

You'll find that once you get a good flavor its soooo much better tasting than regular smokes were, and even the "bad" flavors will be far superior to just the menthol or tobacco falvoring you are used to.

And if I'm wrong and it doesn't get better for you you can always jump into a pit of lava like Gollum did.. worked out alright for him

My first post on these boards just a few days ago was in regards to the emotional impact of switching over, I really really get you. I also ordered my first pv for mothers day for myself and am finding that I am going through periods of chain smoking lately waiting even though I never chain smoked before. I have to say I feel better knowing you're out there going through the same thing, we'll be switch buddies. good luck and serenity to us both!

You'll be fine! When I finally gave up smoking, I was at the point where I was counting out cigarettes and just praying that something would work for me- and it did! I haven't touched an analog in over two months now.

One thing you'll want to do is experiment with PG/VG levels as well as nicotine content until you find the right place to vape at. It'll be tricky at times, but once you get it right everything will fall into place. Make sure you try different flavor categories to see what you like the best, but don't be afraid to go out of your comfort zone!

(Though I am surprised to hear that people talk about smoking analogs in e-liquid reviews! Huh, the world takes all sorts.)

There is no reason for you to stop smoking, don't be afraid.Use your PV to supplement cigarettes when you can't smoke but don't be afraid to smoke when you can. Chances are when you find the right flavor you would rather have it than a cigarette when you have the option, then you can consider stopping the cigarettes.

The closest vendor is not necessarily the fastest or cheapest shipper. I make regular orders from California and from New York, one is 300 miles away the other about 2500 miles away, both usually arrive in 3-4 days. You will also have to pay any applicable sales tax if you buy in the same state you ship to.

Welcome TamboMo to a new and exciting world of choices! I empathize with you on the anxiety of the thought of giving up analogs - I think we all suffered it to some degree. My experience: I bought my first PV only to supplement my habit when working - I am a systems analyst programmer and often work from home. My first PV was purchased thinking I could supplement the smoking habit and help reduce the cost of cigarettes - I would burn a pack of analogs in an 8 hour period! I was pleasantly surprised when I started with my first PV. Within days I discovered I was using my PV far more than I was smoking analogs. I continued to carry around a pack for almost 2 months as my security blanket. Now, almost 3 years later, I have not even thought of turning back - so many flavors - so many choices - I am hooked! So, my humble advice - this is all about choices. Keep your analogs - smoke one when you want one. Get your PV - use it when you want to. If your experience is anything like many of ours, you will find the PV much better tasting, so many more flavors to choose from, no more coughing every morning, stinky clothes, or tar on your walls! Good Luck and I wish you all the best!

My advice is DONT STRESS OUT!
Quitting cigs is a process, and may take time. As many others on this forum have said, every cig you Dont smoke is a victory.
It may be that you only decrease your cigs by 1/4 the first month, still a victory. :thumb:
It may take a month to find the right amount of nic and the right flavor.:)
It may only take a day. :)

My only other suggestion is keep active in ECF. It is a great support, dont hesitate to ask questions. Almost all of the people here will answer with honesty and integrity.

This is just my :2c:
Good Luck

Hey TamboMo! Although I've been lurking for over a month, I decided to join and post for the first time to tell you about my experience. My boyfriend decided he didn't want to smoke anymore and he wanted me to give it up too. I didn't even want to give up analogs when we got our PV's. As soon as I started using it I gave up smoking, just like that. I don't miss the smell, the having to wash my hands all day long, chewing gum like crazy and just feeling uncomfortable at my work place because I didn't want anyone to know I smoked (I work with children). It was a very easy transition, and I've never looked back. Granted, you may still want to hit the analogs but allow yourself to do that, and you'll see, like others have said that you will probably get to the point where you just won't want to smoke anymore and just vape instead. Definitely the best thing my boyfriend has ever talked me into! Good luck!

My experience(haven't had an analog in maybe 10 days or so) was that I actually had half a carton of smokes still when I picked up my 7-11 special. I was so disgusted with myself(used chloraseptic spray to numb my throat to continue to smoke analogs while I was deathly ill) and the e-cig really just did it for me. The first couple of days were uncomfortable, but I guess the level of disgust in what I needed to do(I had used chloraseptic spray multiple times before to be able to continue smoking while sick) pushed me through :)

In keeping theme with a lot of people on here I just wanted to mention:
I was a pack a day guy, often times 2 packs a day. The last thing I wanted to do was quit, but when it came time, I knew I needed to. I've quit cold turkey once before(lasted a year-ish), and I must say, this is quite a bit more pleasant. I honestly enjoy it(I got over feeling awkward about sucking on a battery in public relatively quickly too)!

No need to stress out. I'd say keep a pack with you. As against the grain as it is, this relieves you of any pressure you're putting on yourself. Yes, you do intend to quit smoking. But don't put yourself in a position where if you even have one cig, it's a failure (to what degree, that's your decision).

Just think to yourself that this will help you wean yourself off analogs. Nothing more, nothing less. Then it isn't a burden. And if this ecig doesn't do the trick, there are several other types (maybe you'll like a 3-piece).
