I knocked up my first mix on Tuesday, it's now Friday. So after three days steeping I smelled all the liquids, deciding to leave the butterscotch and cherry to steep some more. So I tried my blackcurrant, orange and strawberry (all flavourart concentrates). I was thinking for a first mix that it might be "okay" at best, but it's almost as if I'm eating the fruit itself. Tastes so good. Just wanted to share my experience and also ask if most juices can be steeped within three days?

Congrats, isn't it fun :toast:

Fruit mixes don't require much, if any at all, steeping whereas tobacco and bakery/custard flavors require time to fully blend and mature. On my custard mixes I find they start to hit their stride on day 4 and continue to develop and become richer very the course of a couple of weeks.

Enjoy the journey!

Congratulations! Lot of fun isn't it? And very rewarding!!

My fruit mixes steep for about 30 seconds. That how long it takes for me to get the tank ready after I have mixed a batch!

For my Black & Blue (mix of blackberry and blueberry) I usually make a bigger bottle (50ml). I have noticed that it mellows out a little as it sits.

I'm right with ya, Hayden! Just mixed up my first couple attempts earlier this week as well. Per comments above, the fruits are pretty darn good right out of the mixing (a blueberry and bavarian cream as well as a cherry and cream.) I was trying to simulate (without looking for a recipe) a maple nut goodie-type juice. Too heavy on the peanut butter compared to the maple, but I'll add a couple drops of maple to enhance.

The only thing about DIY is no more vape mail for a VERY long time :( I shouldn't need to order ANYTHING for eons now.... LOL

I mixed at 5% in 10ml bottles, so 0.5ml flavouring. The orange is truly something else. All the sweet, acidic and slightly bitter taste of an actual orange but it's so good. The blackcurrant is really good too. Strawberry and cherry need a bit more steep time, the butterscotch needs a lot more steeping. Still tastes almost chemically. Had a friend of mine try the orange juice and he said "how much of that stuff can you make?" so I'm knocking up a couple of bottles for him. He thought I'd been at mixing for weeks and his jaw hit the ground when I told him it's a first mix

Yeah good luck with that Dinger! I keep either thinking of something I want to mix or seeing a recipe I want to try that I am missing ONE flavor from. After this last order I put in tonight though, I might be kind of sort of maybe set for awhile. Maybe.

What was your base like? I'm gonna try my first batch soon but still looking into stuff :)

My recipe for all the flavours is 80VG/20PG, 6mg strength, 5% flavouring, in a 10ml bottle. The numbers off the top of my head are something around:

7.19ml VG
1.52ml PG
0.78ml nicotine base (72mg strength, 50VG/50PG)
0.5ml flavouring

Don't quote me on those, I'll have to check when I'm home but it's around there. I used the steam engine e-liquid calculator to get my figures. All flavourart flavourings too.
