Definately the best instruction manual I have seen to date. Might be a great mod to recomend to new users since it is documented so well.

Yeah Noah put a lot of time into that thing. But it does have everything you need to know in it. How are you liking your Alpha so far?

Loving it, but waiting on more attys to come in. I can't vape 1.5 ohm at 3.7 volts without burn taste with my 70/30 juice. Also can't use the 2.5 ohm at 6 volts, same thing happens. I've been VV and cartos for a very long time now, only had a few attys for the UFS, time to restock ! 2.0 ohm is workin great !

So first impression...SEXY!!!!

Man this thing looks good. I cant even begin to fathom what it must have taken to conceptualize them actually craft this work of art.So intricate looking yet simple to operate.

The Ultramax is just a smidgen taller that my Provari but smaller in diameter, about 4/5-9/10 but it is a small fraction of the weight.Without the battery(s) it feels like your holding a buck and a half of quarters give or take. I like the weighty mods especially when they are small but this fits too.Its feels so space age.

Now I have only dripped into a 1.5Ω 510 atty with the 3.7v 17670 battery and a 3.5Ω 306 atty with the 2x rcr123 3.0v (6v) just to try out the mods performance so I will have to come back and describe the RES after I decide wich juice I want to christen it with But let me tell you The weight had me fooled at till I vaped on it.This thing is a power house. As I slid the slick battery compartment/switch up to activate,on both battery set ups,it produced amazing vapor and the flavor was right on.

So in short I am very happy to have decided to add this to my collection.I look forward to having a mod I can take out and turn heads and not have to worry about killing if falls or takes a hit. I just wish my wallet didn't have to take the hit it did buying it but thats the price of high quality material.Still less than a UFS on a GGTS though.

I'll add more after I get to know it and the RES a lil better.

Nice! I got my Ultra last week. I'm not a reviewer, I'm a young ;) Grandma of 4 whose PV rarely leaves her hand and these are just my thoughts.
The first thought that came to my head was - Genius! Whoever designed this thing is pure genius! And must have been a long time vaper. This solves so many of my pet peeves with vaping. I never could stand carts, I have always been a dripper. I flood everything and always have juice everywhere. I really can't stand the big, burnt hit, ewwww. I have no interest in carrying a bottle of juice fastened onto my ecig in any fashion. This is so perfect! It's lightweight, and the juice storage doesn't, in anyway, throw it off balance. I fill the Res in the morning and drip the crap out it off and on through out the day. No runs, no drips! I only have 3 flavors I use, 100% VG, and they are all compatable, so when I change flavors, it is just gradual.
This is the 3rd Mod (of many) I have bought that I do not regret buying. It is very well made, and of genius design.
The side button takes a little getting use to, my other two faves are bottom button, but I don't have to worry about this one activating by accident. And it does get a little slick with lotion on your hands. But not a biggie, just an adjustment.
Thanks so much!

Thats awesome to hear that its working out for you. I'm sure Nate will be happy to hear it too. The switch is a bit strange for some people to get used to, but after a bit of practice its very simple and has no chance of ever getting activated on accident. Congrats on your purchase, its always nice to not regret buying something.

I'm looking forward to try this switch configuration out - my main current vapes (Screwdriver and Super T Super Six) are also both bottom button devices. I don't like "side press" buttons (I have an eGo and that doesn't suit me). The only other configuration I've tried and liked is the "top button" on my Nuck's Fistpack - but that is obviously only possible on "box" type devices.

I think you will like the switch. It certainly is fundamentally different from all other e-cig switches/buttons (which I think is a good thing). So it takes a little getting used to. That said it is super simple and robust, there is virtually nothing that can go wrong in this switch that is not corrected by a wiping down the battery sleeve and inside of the main body, and mine lives in my pocket for 18 hours a day.

Hopefully yours is well on its way across the pond! ;)

SH

There's actually a top-button tube mod out there, but I won't mention the manufacturer here. As for the slide switch, I think that you're really going to like the design. Just a tip: polish the top & bottom of the inner sleeve and the inner surface of the outer sleeve. The more you polish those parts, the easier the two slide. I polished the hell out of mine, and now it hardly takes any force to activate!!! I sometimes find myself trying to "slide activate" my other tube mods.

The polishing is a fantastic suggestion. We include a Cape Cod Cleaning Cloth with each kit, we like the Cape Cod Cloth because it is made in the USA, time tested, and they last forever. There is a very subtle design feature of the Apex Vapor Alpha family of devices. The inner battery sleeve has a small but critical difference in the outside diameter. The area the has the grooves/ridges for engaging your thumb has a slightly smaller diameter then the top and the bottom of the sleeve (where pAth77 is suggestion you polish).

We did this so only the top and bottom of the sleeve make contact with the inside of the main body, which reduces friction. The other benefit is that you can polish the inside of the main body, and as long as you wipe off any excess polish, you will not have any polish transfer to the middle of the battery sleeve where you want it to stay unpolished for better grip. Only the top and bottom of the inner battery sleeve will be in contact.

You can certainly get the Alpha to the point where it is almost effortless to activate.

Thanks pAth, great post.

Cheers,

SH

The ends of the inner (battery) sleeve are easy to polish, but the inside of the main body is a bit more difficult to do thoroughly (especially the sealed bottom end). What I did was to wrap the polishing cloth around a drill bit and I set the drill to the slowest speed. This allowed me to polish the entire inner surface without having to bend my fingers in weird positions.

Thats a great idea. I would have never thought of that. I'm gonna have to give that a try, sounds pretty easy.

Thanks for this tip pAth77.
I was having a self induced issue with my switch thinking the inner tube was catching on the etched writing on the inside of the outer tube. I wet sanded to smooth out the "etchings" inside of the outer tube with 600/800/1000 and polished both tubes with the included Cape Cod cloth and even played with the spring some and it did make it somewhat easier. When I focused on the ends as you suggested, it now slides very smooth. That said, it still can give my wife a little problem when she has just washed her hands and or has some lotion on them. I also think she tries to hard, and exerts to much pressure on the tube instead of lightly sliding it up. (My wife really does like it and is contemplating the smaller Ultra.) :)

I'm curious if a light media blast to a the center section of the inner tube would increase the traction for her.

So, now that I've had my Ultramax with RES for almost 2 weeks now I thought I would throw out my :2c: worth.

Other than my self induced switch issue that is sorted out now, I am very impressed with the Ultramax with RES. Without being to redundant to earlier first impressions and reviews, It's looks, feels, and most importantly, the all around performance, great vapor and flavor, and hassle free ease of use is just really to sweet. The RES has worked flawlessly for me with running a 1.5 ohm atty, AW protected 17670's, with BWB Malty & Malty Toffee 75vg/25pg juice. This is working so well for me I haven't even tried 6V yet which is unusual for me not to at least try it in this time frame. :) I run 6V in my GGTB almost exclusively, run my Buzz somewhere between 4.2 - 5.2 V with CE2 2.8 -3.0 / 3.0 - 3.2 map type tank mods. Also, I run 6V about 1/2 the time in my bottom feed wooden box mods with varying 510 and 801 atty combos.
I am not a chainvaper. I will take 2 or 4 "toots" maybe every 5 to 15 minutes & my average juice usage runs less than 3MLS on a light day and up to 6MLS on a unusually heavy day. I have taken the Ultramax with RES fully loaded (probably overfilled, kinda gurgly, and I have seen a little juice at the RES vent holes  ) on the golf course several times for a 3 1/2 - 4 hour round plus hitting the obligatory 19th hole for a drink or three :p and not have to add a drop of juice. When I do get to a "dryer" hit, it seems I can draw on it with no fire, then draw and fire and it hits fine. I can do this for quite some time before I add juice. The recommended 10 drops works for well over an hour or so for me. YMMV.

Thanks Innovapor for a great device, and for great customer service as was proven to me when I PM'd Noah about my self perceived switch issue. No questions asked, the next day I had new inner and outer tubes in the mailbox with a postage paid return envelope to return the self perceived faulty ones. WOW, that was quick. When I measured them with digital calipers, saw there was no difference I returned the new tubes. That was my bad, and Noah, if you see this, I apologize for not taking a closer look at the tolerances of the center part of the tube to start with and be smart enough  to reconize that there was no way what I thought was happening could happen.....duh huh.:blush::facepalm:
The Apex Alpha Ultramax with RES rocks.!!!
